First logo panel is up on the scoreboard

It looks fine but I guess I would have rather seen the sides where the logo is used to show statistical bits (score, time, timeouts, down and distance, maybe some team stats, etc.) so the entire board could be used to display plays and replays. I can understand not needing the entire board to be HD top-of-the-line quality but it feels like the rest of the board could have been utilized better.

Trust me guys Im not complaining whatsoever. I love the new video board. I just dont understand why were gonna have two huge logos next to it. Instead why not just make the videoboard even bigger? I havent seen it yet and cant wait to when I make it up for Oct. 1st and Nov. 5th.

Something's gotta cover the speakers, right?

Like I said in another thread, a cardinal graphic stretched horizontally that would tie in with the videoboard (when it was on) would look way better. Because it would seem like one large image, it would feel more like one large structure/videoboard. Effectively more bang for the same buck.

Glad they didn't go with the "I-State Jack Trice Stadium" logo, but I still would have liked just the I-State logo.

Missed opportunity, but at least it could be changed sometime in the future.

Id be interested to see what the 'actual' video space is once you remove the advertising on the sides. The south board has that as permanent fixtures so its not a direct comparison. Obviously the current one is larger, but it does cut into the space.

I hope several years down the road the structure can be used to just make the video go at least one more section in each direction, if not the entire length of the structure.

That is the 'actual' video space. It is 2800 sq feet. Our other screen is 500 some. The new board is #14 in the country in size.

They had to ask for more money just to get this much done. I'm guessing asking for another couple million for a bigger video portion probably would've just been grand.

I don't think you realize how much video board is there. Hint: It's ******* massive.

Thats what she said :-)

I hope those speakers are capable of blowing us out of the stadium - I can't wait to see/hear the team's intro. Or hear a really LOUD - That's another Cyclone... FIRST DOWN!

Loud is nice. I'd settle for clear and non-crackly, though.

Ahh I see. Thanks for filling me in. I also wasn't aware that they had to ask for even more money to get as much as they did. My bad.

They didn't ask for more money...they asked to spend more money. Big difference. ISU had the money, but the BoR has to approve all expenditures over $1M.

I guess that I don't get the complaining. The facts are that they had to span that building, so the size of the supports was never in doubt. They also had a budget that they had to meet. They supposedly have the 14th largest screen in the country...so that doesn't suck. What's there to complain about again? What could they have done differently? Hmmm...state of the art sound system and a HD screen that is the 14th largest in the country? I don't see an issue with it.

Remember guys, the new speakers are going to be massive as well. IMO having massive sound will be even better than having a slightly bigger video screen.

Whiners are going to whine. I think the new scoreboard is amazing (plus I live by it and have actually seen it).
