Fear the Walking Dead?

Not sure what to think overall. It was an OK show to watch on DVR (can't stand the 5 minute AMC commercial breaks).

But too much was just SMH. Why was Strand incarcerated to begin with? Why would the officer trade Nick back for cufflinks, as if stupid cufflinks are worth anything in the apocalypse.

Like others, could never develop much caring for Travis and his new girlfriend. But the father from El Salvador was a great character. Which man was I?

Personally, I loved that they let the arena horde out to attack the base. Even if it was a little ill conceived and over the top in order to rescue two people, still funny as hell when he told the guards to save their ammo.

The Dad is actually from new Zealand and has a voice coach so he does not sound Brit.

Cliff Curtis (Travis) is a Maori from New Zealand.

He's talking about Ruben Blades (Daniel Salazar). Blades is from Panama; I've missed where his character Salazar was from, other than the fact that it was a dictatorship or military run nation.

Ooh, bunch of post-apocolyptic-where's-my-character-development?-walker-snobs up in here.

I'm tired of Walking Dead's endless wandering around the forest, following the railroad tracks, dealing with Rick's issues, sorting out their feelings nonsense. That show is just going in circles now from one vulnerable community to the next. At least the west coast isn't bound by the rules of a comic book world.

For those of you wanting more insight into the mechanics of the outbreak itself; don't worry- there's plenty of places yet to explore I'm sure. LA is a logical location for ground zero.

I just finished the finale of season one. Overall, I liked it, especially towards the last two episodes. The people seemed to make a lot of dumb decisions, but I guess you can say that in America not everyone is all that smart...

I felt it was an excellent season finale to what, IMO, is an underrated and maybe even under appreciated series.

If you don't like it or don't think it's as good as TWD, that's fine, and I would agree with you on the 2nd part, but I don't think it was ever intended as a replica of TWD or a TWD 2.0, and to measure it to that standard or demand that it follow the same template is, IMO, unfair to FTWD, and it needs to be judged on its own merits.

Stepping off the soapbox now...

Somebody else mentioned above that he's from El Salvador, and I'm pretty sure that's where he's from, even though I don't think it was ever explicitly mentioned.

I'm not quite sure how to feel about his character. Not exactly the warmest or most likeable guy in what's left of the world, but a part of my can sympathize with his single-minded quest to find his wife. I did think there was some unfortunate irony in how his leading a big zombie horde to the military base prevented a big Chinook helicopter, which likely could have carried the whole group plus a bunch of others, to relative safety. Unintended consequences.

He needs people to do things for him. Can't live by yourself forever, even in the apocalypse.

Disagree to a certain extent. Not forever, but certainly for the short term when most of the chaos is happening. He doesn't know the extent of things outside of LA, so you would want to find shelter and wait it out. Food & water are likely available on the boat. If I owned that, I'd be saying screw you all and taking cover for the next couple months.

When I say do things, I mean like operate the boat, run for supplies, etc. I've never been on or owned a large luxury yacht, but don't they usually need a crew to operate? It's not like it is a Lund. Or is he planning on just leaving it anchored where it is? Seems like if he does it would be a prime target for any survivors.

Anyone watch the season premier last night? Meh. Not great, not horrible (though closer to the latter). The end was pretty good, not knowing who's approaching the yacht.

Keep Strand, Travis, the hot brunette with the shoulder wound, and maybe the older guy. Everyone else? Off the boat you go. Shark bait. Seriously. Travis' kid is the new Coral.
