Fear the Walking Dead?

I forgot how much I hate all the kids on this show.

It took time for Carl to impact the show. He was a cute kid at first.

This show smacked us in the face with a lot of self-absorbed young people and some fairly ineffective parenting skills from some of the adults. It has been harder for me to like many of them (despite the fact that I really like Cliff Curtis, the actor).

I like the one with a drug problem. Very good actor. Dumb of him to swim under the boat.

Not a bad start to the season, but not great. Interested to see who is on the other boat. I like Strand, but you know how it goes for characters like him... he is too cautious and too smart, he won't survive the season.

I want to know what's going on with this Strand character. Why was he so prepared to get out. He seems like he could be a really interesting character.

Well, it IS Los Angeles. I wouldn't expect anything less.

Realistic though. I'd have a hard time buying it if a bunch of teenagers seamlessly transitioned from their usual lives into zombie apocalypse mode.

It may be realistic, but it makes it MUCH harder to identify with any of them, at least for me. As a past parent of teenagers (and grandparent to current teenagers), I really want to (figuratively) smack some sense into all of them...and that includes their parents. :)

I'd say my three favorite characters - the son with the heroin addiction, Strand, and the older Mexican guy (sorry, I can't remember all the names).

Those are my favorite, too. I'll add the daughter with the shoulder wound for eye candy. The other daughter is cute too, but she's so dumb that she loses about 10 points immediately.

I'm still watching, so shame on me, but this show is terrible compared to walking dead. I feel like I just hate pretty much all of the characters and want them all to get killed off.

Hey! Let's stop the boat and add a bunch of unknown strangers to our small yacht. I'm going to tell the OWNER of this boat, that is what I think he should do after he saved my sorry butt. Sheesh....I get feeling bad for those other people, I certainly would, but everyone other than Strand suspends reality so much, it's like they've missed what has happened to them.

I'm going to keep watching it and I'm probably going to hate myself every week for doing so. Only because they could have made this version so kick butt, it's frustrating to watch them so dumb.

For some reason I can't remember any of the character names on this show which makes me think character development has been poor.

I kind of like the guy with the boat, is that Strand? I feel he was dumb to allow such a high percentage of teenagers on his boat.

I like the older guy too. He immediately made himself useful by fishing, trying to straighten out the non-addict teenager, and swapping the deck.

I sort of like the dad but he is starting to grate on me. And I sort of like the druggie kid.

I feel like rooting for the walkers, which reminds me of the days of Lori and Shane.

I know it goes against what everyone on here thinks, but I like this better than the Walking Dead. It has more potential right now. TWD has started to go a little stale with their characters.

It has more potential because it's not bound by the comic. TWD has gone stale, but it's been 6 seasons and a lot has happened in that time.

What TWD did well was write great early episodes like those in the camp outside Atlanta that made you care for the characters. Carol and her abusive husband, Andrea and her sister, etc. To me what Fear has failed to do so far is make me invested in anyone. If anyone had died on last night's episodes, I wouldn't have cared. Everyone outside maybe Nick and Strand are so superficial it's hard to care about them.

This is my whole problem. I really don't care about the characters. They need to do some development or it's going to fizzle.

I enjoyed last's night episode, as I enjoy the show a lot in general.

I liked that it set up tension that is going to create storylines for the season; tension between Strand and the families, tension between Travis and Chris that I don't think is going to disappear anytime soon, and some external tension with the kid that the teenage girl was talking to, not to mention this incoming boat.

Looking forward to this season and hoping it's a good one, especially after the way TWD fell on its face.
