FB Facility Update

Sorry for being creative. We can continue to be like the rest of the nation and run out of a smokey inflatable circus tent and run into the goalposts.

While I am no fan of the smokey circus tent, the cellar door is way too gimmicky. It screams minor league baseball or semi-pro hoops. It is creative, but I thought it was supposed to be tongue in cheek. It would be pretty funny the first time or two though.

I doubt it happens, but it could be awesome every time if done correctly. For example, the tunnel from the FB building could begin in the basement and go deep under the hill, therefore they would have to come up to field level. Would be a legit tunnel walk. My guess though is they're thinking something similar to a full circle stadium like Arrowhead and their entrances amongst the crowd. Ours would be slightly different though because people are sitting on a hill.

Maybe. Storm cellar door = pirate ship in the endzone. IMHO.

I didn't realize the only option besides the inflatable tunnel was your idea. Don't get all butt hurt.

Most will not like this, and it is not a realistic idea, so don't burn my arse right away.

The tunnel needs to go all the way to the East sideline at about the 25 yard line. It will have sliding roof doors, so once the players are out, the doors close. We will have fog machines down both sides of a "lane" so the fog starts, the doors open, the players come out and down the lane, the doors close, the fog lifts and the opposing team sees the Cyclones standing on the sideline where only a couple minutes before no one was there. That would be a long tunnel.

Just to show what the tunnel could possibly look like...I put together a sketchup model of the scoreboard/tunnel.

**This is not meant to represent what the athletics department actually has designed or what will actually be built. It is just my personal take on what has been rumored.**

I do think the tunnel could look pretty cool though.

Holy Crap! That is awesome. You should apply for a structural engineering job for the athletic deparrtment.

Sweet! I really think this is the closest rendering of what it will actually look like, coming out of the hillside.

We don't even know if the tunnel will come out of the hillside. All we know is there's a tunnel.

This does look sweet and I do hope we have a tunnel coming out of the hillside like this.

I like the new facility you tacked onto the bergstrom, is that just your speculation or have plans been released?

That's true. But, where else would it come out of?
I've also heard it would come perpendicular from the Jake and the team would walk down the path next to the Jacobson to the field. After looking at the layout, that doesn't seem like a very good idea. I nominate clonefromNE's idea, only make the FOF bigger and more window-y.

Agree.

This is just speculation at this point. I haven't a clue as to how it will look, but this is just a rough model to act as a placeholder. The videoboard, however, was fun to model from scratch as we now know the dimensions from the press release. So that is pretty much exactly like what is proposed.

I have simply continued to add stuff to this model over the past few years and it is somewhat of a "dream" Jack Trice Stadium at this point...aka double deck south endzone, etc.

Excellent job! That looks fantastic.

Is the height accurate? The cyclones.com picture showed a lot more space between the roof and the bottom of the scoreboard. I like the way yours looks better.

The scoreboard is correct, but the jacobson is a little tall. That is why this has less of a gap.

The June board of regents meeting is on the 8th. The agenda should be out within a couple weeks. That should have at least some of the actual plans.

Board of Regents State of Iowa

We can end speculation at that point. Just FYI.
