Favorite Movies of 2017

My god you people watch a lot of movies. I think I saw three from 2017. My favorite was It. Other two were Star Wars: TLJ and Get Out.

I guess I'd much rather watch a good TV series.

I have seen 4 from OP's original list

Saw on cable:
Kong: Skull Island - Harmless fluff I watched on Christmas morning.
A Cure for Wellness - Beautifully filmed. Last 30 minutes it got extra weird.
The Great Wall - Harmless fluff I watched on Christmas afternoon.

Saw in theater:
Alien: Covenant - Disappointment once again.

I thought The Big Sick was just ok. I got a little bored with it at times. The two hour run time was probably a good 20 minutes too long.

Holy cow people have some time on their hands.

I didn't see that many but recent ones that thought were good and haven't seen mentioned:
Wonder
The Florida Project

Star Wars was fine and so was Wonder Woman, Spiderman and there's plenty I'd like to see.

Wow. I wouldn't think that would be the most chick friendly movie available.

Charlie Day is funny though. I'll probably watch it on cable eventually.
She saw a clip from the movie on facebook that she thought was hilarious. It was the best part of the movie and the rest didn't live up.

Gotcha. I am very picky on what to see at the theater. It usually has to be something I've been waiting to see for a while or a movie that the kids are dying to see.

Of the 6 movies I saw in the theater, none of them were bad.

I really liked The Last Jedi, I guess I'm part of the Star Wars fan base that liked it.
IT was a really good adaptation and I thought it was well executed.
Wonder was a great movie and the whole family loved it.
Lego Batman was hilarious. Not as good as The Lego Movie, but very entertaining.
Despicable Me 3 was very funny as well. Better than DM2 or the Minions Movie.
And Captain Underpants was silly as heck and my 8 year old loved it. And the 8 year old in me liked it a lot as well.

No real disappointments for me at all in theaters this year.

As someone who enjoyed the first Kingsmen, I wouldn't get in a big rush for the second one. It was ok at times, but it felt like a cash grab.

Aw, that sucks. I really enjoy Colin Firth as I think he's got a great deadpan, so that's too bad. The first one was quite well done.

Only saw a couple but Wonder Woman was my fave. Spouse really liked Logan. I like Hugh Jackman so maybe I need to watch that too.

There's a lot of generic commando extras skull-gouging, be warned.

This is what I've heard, which is why I refrained from going to the theater to see it. I still plan on catching it on blu ray at some point here.

I liked the sound and some of the cinematography in Dunkirk, but otherwise was huge disappointment for me. Didn't seem to have the scale I had hoped for and I didn't really connect with the characters.

There's some real drek just upstream on your list.

I have wanted a Justice League movie since I was a toddler. I went to the movie theater probably close to 40 times during 2017. I did not walk out of the theater more disappointed than I did with Justice League. There were some fun things in the movie but I thought it was a hot mess overall.

I thought Dunkirk was great. It tells the story with more than words, it uses your senses and made you feel like you were there. Or maybe that's just me. I thought it was intense but very different than most movies that spoon feed you dialogue to move the story along. I can see why some wouldn't like it though.

And yes, OP....I'm a single dude with no kids and didn't have that much time to watch all of those!

Wow! I saw a total of 5 movies. In order of like:
IT
Dunkirk
Split
Life
Annabelle

Wow. I literally saw only two on that list.

Completely unrelated note. I watched Deepwater Horizon (2016) last night on HBO and thought it was AWESOME.
