Ryan Adams - Wasted Years (Iron Maiden)

I really, really enjoy his cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall."

Hope it is not cheating to post two but I also absolutely love this one. John Lee Hooker doing Gloria, maybe the most covered song of the 1960’s and early 1970’s. Every garage band played this. Getting help from Van Morrison "covering" his own hit from back when he was with Them. Okay, so technically not a 100% cover but it's John Lee Hooker!

Edit to correct Van Morrison group.

Ryan Adams is an amazing talent. Thanks for sharing this.

I'm a fan of him doing "Black Sheets of Rain" from Bob Mould.

You're absolutely correct, I can't wait to see him at Stephens in October. I'm so mad I didn't see him on his Live After Deaf tour in Kansas City but we had a 3 month old and the wife didn't want to leave her so soon.

Smooth Criminal!

Here's a short list of ones I can think of offhand that were better than the originals:

Johnny Cash - NIN's "Hurt" (overplayed, but obvious)
Fugees - Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly" (just way more interesting)
Clapton - Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" (tons of soul in Clapton's voice)
Cake - Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" (because Cake and disco)

Best cover of all time:

Van's original (Ireland) group (Parrot Label US) was Them. Shadows of Knight (from Chicago) did the cover of this song that was the bigger hit in the US (versus Them's version) back in the 60's
