I may have minsunderstood what you were trying to say in your post. I guess I'm trying to understand what you meant by this:
The concept of the leapfrogging is, a team like ISU or Iowa should be about to beat the LA-Monroes and UNIs on pure talent alone. It is kind of a job security maneuver at the beginning also. Campbell doesn't have the incentives that Kirk does/did. Kirk had incentives for a bowl game (basically 6 wins), a winning record (7 wins), and an 8 win season (obviously 8 wins). You win 7.5 games a season (where kirk is over his career) at a place like Iowa or ISU and they will reward you. Job security and incentive security.

Campbell hasn't said anything like Ferentz saying beating Iowa State is bigger than beating Ohio State. And that's just the start of it with Ferentz. He does some crazy stuff the week of the game. Hangs up posters, tweets, moves trophy cases, etc. There's no comparison between how the two view the game
I just love how Ferentz's successful approach to this game is supposed to be some kind of bad thing. Can you believe he's doing things to try and win a football game? The audacity!

How many records would he hold at Iowa right now? I’m guessing he will have them all when he is done unless he leaves after next year. The game is a lot different than it was when Long and even Seneca played that is for sure.
