I would tell you though old JM might be more of a hot mess than normal this game because of not understanding a lick of this theme. We're in the same boat. I plan on watching Fantastic Beasts this afternoon, but I've never seen any of the HP movies (or read the books)...a fact that will now no doubt get me votes just like not watching all of Christmas Vacation did last time!
How big of a deal are these FB books/movies? I sincerely had no idea this even existed. I’ve read most of the HP books but it’s been probably at least a decade ago.
I think someone upthread nailed it. They made it through the Harry Potter series, but the kids aren't cute kids anymore, and they needed another way to profit off the franchise. From what I understand, the FB movies are basically loosely related prequels.
