Expectations for 2018-2019

An issue with Prohm or an issue with Lard?

An issue with Prohm (And I am a huge fan of him). You sent Lard away for the summer to straighten up, don't hurt our chances of winning games we should just to prove a point.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but just think how many people would be pissed if we missed the tournament because of losing the Mizzou game.

Has it been stated exactly what Lard is being punished for? I remember a couple minor instances last year but if that is all, I tend to agree with you that it seems like he has been punished enough already. But maybe there is more that isn't publicly known.

Were you mad when CMC didn't play Cotton Moya and Edwards in the bowl game?

I'm of the belief that taking the pain now can head off larger scale pain down the road. I would rather take the pain against Misery and head off potentially taking a couple of games of pain in Big 12 play.

I understand that but I'm of the opinion that shipping off a kid for the entire off season should be punishment enough.

Yeah, I thought Prohm said his punishment was served and everything is good to go with Lard. So, unless he had another issue since getting back or there are some behavioral problems in practice, then I’m ok with sitting him.

Wait, is Cam isn't being punished by going to wellness center rather a mature step to correct the path he was heading. I haven't seen anywhere nor think that Prohm "punished" him by making him go there.

Cam had public scrapes with the law (who knows what happened behind the scenes), and would result in any player setting for a period of time be it not starting, half or full games and Prohm will want to be consistent in his handling of all these cases for the rest of the players.

punishment for whatever the hell we sent him to Herrin's facility
That's the point. We are sitting here deciding what is enough punishment and no one even knows what the infraction(s) are or when they occurred. The summer treatment might have been more of a opportunity then a punishment. Giving him the opportunity for treatment might have been an alternative to being kicked off the team for all we know with the understanding that there was still something due for the actual infractions.

We don't know so I - for one - will not get pissed at our coach if he has to make tough decisions on the matter.

I totally acknowledge that I know very little about what’s went on with Lard, besides the under age ticket and thrown out paraphernalia charge. That said, the way he’s been talked about in the media etc you’d think he got charged with assault and had a heroin issue.

The underage ticket is a Run Laps issue imo. And I’ll go with the police opinion of the piece as well.

DUI- sit games. Sexual assault? Kicked off team. 20 yo with a beer? Yawn.

Just realized the Kansas @ Iowa State game is over winter break. Sucks the students wont be there for the crowd aspect.
They can go if they want to make the trip back to campus. I'm sure some will but yeah won't quite be the same atmosphere.

Well, Randy Peterson, who certainly has more knowledge of the program than I do, does not think Lard will play in the opener. This was published today (see if you can spot Mr. Peterson's glaring error as well as another editing error):

"... The 6-9 Lard is still practicing his way back into shape after won't be available when the season starts NOV 6 against Alabama State at Jack Trice Stadium, due to well publicized off-court situations that resulted in spending 90 days in a Massachusetts wellness facility."

That's verbatim from an on-line article in the DSM's Cyclone Insider today on small ball and ISU's adaptability with this year's roster. They say that the pressure to get content on-line means that there's less time for editing nowadays; this blurb could be a case in point.

Grammar and editing aside, Rand Pete sure doesn't think we'll see Lard in the opener; he doesn't have any nuance in it.
