Expectations for 2018-2019

As the season approaches I think I have to realistically throttle down on my expectations due to things we know now that we didn't a month or two ago.

Cam Lard not starting right out of the gate, that's going to slow us down for several games. Injuries and illnesses have also taken their tolls. You only get so many practices, so when a player misses a few, that puts him behind schedule. Maybe they will overcome these setbacks, but I think we could all feel a lot better if we were healthy and full strength.

Heres to hoping they surprise us with some great wins!

Wigginton checks in CBT's top 100 players twitter reveal.

@CBTonNBC
23. Lindell Wigginton, @CycloneMBB

Wigginton is the best player in the Big 12 you don't know about. The native Canadian was excellent as a freshman, opted to return for his sophomore year and is a major reason the Cyclones have a chance to get to the NCAA tournament once again.

Yeah, though I don't think we know whether Cam is going to miss any or not. It's only speculation on some vague remarks. I'm still hopeful that the discipline will be thoughtfully doled out. Maybe miss a game, and then not start for a few more. Heck, he could just come off the bench game 1, or even start. We really know nothing other than that some form of discipline is coming.

I think ISU has a media availability today and Prohm is likely to be asked and address Cam's playing time to start the year. From Prohm's earlier comments the punishment if for the spring transgressions thus I would expect 2 games like last season. It could be lessened due to Lard taking responsibility and going to the wellness center.

I get the impression from Prohm's comments that it's up to Cam. If he's toeing the line, it may be nothing. If he's not, it may keep extending until he does.

Missouri with only Jacobson and Conditt for big men would be... interesting.

At least our guards would be better than theirs.

Missouri isn't very good, especially without Jontay Porter.

We really do not know how good or bad any particular team is this season, particularly ones with so much turnover in the roster like ours and Mizzou lately.

I think their big men are going to be solid-to-very good. Their guards? Not so convinced. You are right that being down Porter is going to be devastating.

Yeah, Missouri is unknown at best. Odds are, they will struggle a bit without Porter, and with the other losses to graduation. The guard court is the biggest unknown, and if they aren't very good, that tends to negate strength in the front court.

I'll take that bet. What's the wager? KU will be heading to the Tulsa site, as well as K-State. Top Big 10 schools will probably head to Columbus site

LOL pride. Des Moines is definitely in play for both KU and K-State. It's almost unheard of for a 5 seed to play in their own backyard. The committee isn't going to give a 5 seed home court advantage over a 4. I agree with you that if the Kansas schools both end up in Tulsa Des Moines would be in play for Iowa State as a 4 seed though.

I'll have a serious issue if Prohm keeps Lard out of the Mizzou game. That's a must win game out of the gates.

Making sure all player player are responsible for their actions and committed to do right by the program is bigger than a game regardless of the opponent. He sat Lard @ Mizzou last year for some prior incidents. CSP has sat players for conference games to make the point, I doubt a match up Mizzou would influence his decision.
