@CollegeHoopNews Nick Weiler-Babb is coming off a breakout year 11.3ppg 7.0rpg 6.8apg and it should only get better in 2018-19. Pair Weiler-Babb with Lindell Wigginton and the Cyclones have one of the better backcourts in college basketball. #Cyclones #Big12

I'm perfectly ok with them not being ranked to start the year.

I don't think the non-conference is going to be as bumpy this year either.

Nice pub. It's always good to be in the mix. ISU BBall has respect. (And great talent to boot this year of course.)

Get well soon, Solo!

I would obviously rather have him than not.

The guy is a road-grader on offense and boxes out like a monster.

Obviously, though, since we have a seemingly focused Lard and Jacobson, plus a lot of lanky wings who can play small-ball 4, this does not kill our rotation.

Having depth and flexibility in the roster is going to be nice.

I think Solo's injury impacts the Missouri game the most. Their strength is their bigs. Hopefully our small ball outplays their post play, but this limits our ability to go big to counter if we need it. If Talley is not back by then, we have even one fewer tall/long armed bodies to defend Mizzou's height.

I actually forgot about this game. Good test to see what kind of differences belong for this group this season.

Not sure what Mizzou's like but a P5 opponent is a good start.

CBS Top 15 PG for 2018-19.
Two with ISU fans interest in the top 5, maybe 3 since ISU recruited Cassius.

1. Carsen Edwards | Purdue | Junior
2017-18 stats: 18.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.8 apg

2. Cassius Winston | Michigan State | Junior
2017-18 stats: 12.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 6.9 apg

3. Tremont Waters | LSU | Sophomore
2017-18 stats: 15.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 6.0 apg

4. Lindell Wigginton | Iowa State | Sophomore
2017-18 stats: 16.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.8 apg
Like Waters, Lindell Wigginton didn't get enough pub as a freshman last season because his team didn't warrant the coverage. But similar to LSU, Iowa State's in line for a bit of a course correction, and a big reason for it is the expected sophomore leap from Wigginton. He does a lot of things really well to make his team around him better, and the best thing for his Cyclones in 2018-19 may be getting more shots. He shot 40.1 percent from the 3-point line last year and 41.4 percent from the field. If those numbers keep trending, the only 2-pointers he should take moving forward are dunks. And boy, we all know he can do that.

5. Clayton Custer | Loyola-Chicago | Senior
2017-18 stats: 13.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 4.1 apg
Save for Cassius Winston, nobody -- not even Carsen Edwards or Lindell Wigginton -- shot better from the 3-point line than Loyola-Chicago's Clayton Custer. He put up outside shots at a 45.1 percent clip, and more astounding, made 52.8 percent of his field goals. Add in his efficient 24.8 percent assist rate and reliable every-night scoring, and you've got a top-5 player at the position.

FWIW, KenPom came out with their 2018/19 rankings today. The Cyclones we're 25th. Predicted overall record of 18-11 (doesn't include games 2 + 3 in Maui, or big 12 tourney) and 9-9 in the conference. Clones had 19th best offense, 35th best defense.

KU was #1, W Virg 10, KST 12, TX, 16, T Tech 26 and TCU 34. Hoks 35th.

I think non-subscribers can see the overall rankings at website.
