Expectations for 2018-2019

Feel bad for the kid. Awful anytime it happens, but especially in a meaningless scrimmage.

I already thought Prohm should cancel the Wisconsin scrimmage next week when I saw it was vs S. Illinois. In reality though a ACL/MCL could just as easily have happened in practice or in a pick up game. Hope he has a speedy recovery, and injury insurance (considering his brothers health issues I would hope they took a policy out)

Porters seem fragile.
Story in the St Louis Post discussed that...older brother just had 2nd back surgery and both sisters had knee issues that dogged them during their careers (also at Missouri). Jontay also was dealing with chronic tendinitis in both knees that required constant therapy.

Saw this comparison between KPOM and Barttorviks' preseason rankings for the B10. Pulled the same data for the BIG12 beneath. Some interesting disparities.
upload_2018-10-22_12-2-46.png
KU 1/1
WV 10/7
KS 12/19
TX 16/35
ISU 25/33
TT 26/27
TCU 34/31
Bay 40/77
OK 52/56
OKS 62/72

BIG 12 projected to be much much stronger.

Overall i think KPOM is closer to the mark (except baylor). Then again Barttorvik came out much earlier. Noticed that Barttorvik has pulled Porter from the lineup already but has not adjusted MO's ranking, I suspect he'll update.

Both of them having a tricky job keeping up with lineups and injury changes for 350 programs. Both projection systems are very bullish on the Big 12.

That is nice for us in terms of SoS but difficult in terms of raw Ws.

When I went to Columbia for the game last year, one of the Mizzou fans sitting next to me was friends of the family. She said they're all freak athletes, and that the parents keep the kids on a vegan/vegetarian diet.

Maybe they need to stop doing that.

I'm finding that Statfox (free version) and RotoWire (paid version) do a pretty good of keeping up on college bball injuries, at least for the major conferences. You can get a free 10 day trial at RotoWire.

DARK HORSE TEAM TO WIN THE CONFERENCE: IOWA STATE
The Cyclones return five of their top six scorers, have a legit first-team All-Big 12 player in Lindell Wigginton and add a trio of experienced transfers. That’s a recipe for success. Last season's 13–18 finish projects to be more of a blip on the radar than a sign of things to come for Iowa State, and head coach Steve Prohm has been a proven winner both with the Cyclones and at Murray State. And don’t underestimate the difficulty of winning in Ames, Iowa, one of the toughest opposing crowds in the conference. Kansas should cruise to a conference title, but if things go south in Lawrence, Wigginton and Co. could snatch the Big 12 crown.

Who's the third transfer?

Either he is counting Talley who transferred in last year or he thinks Nixon is eligible this year.

Technically Nick came into the program as a transfer, too, way back when now.
