Expectations for 2018-2019

Hate hearing about players getting mono. It ruins their freshman year. See Clayton Custer and Chase Allen.

Definitely don't like Zion tweaking his knee...
And Talley just can't catch a break... first his thumb over the summer, now his nose? Hah.

Does jealousy become an issue with non-starters?

We will have 3, 4, maybe even 5 guys that would've pushed for starting time last year that will be coming off the bench.

He’s already back to practice so he probably didn’t have it as bad as some of those others. My daughter had it and it was very mild.

Fortunately we prob dont need much of Griffin this year although hearing all 4 freshman are good adn Griffin athleticism and energy is Hogue esq..

Hearing a lot of really good things on Halliburton and of course THT... Granted time will tell but if we signed a 4 man class and they all pan out that is remarkable and will be huge.

A small ball lineup of NB, LW, Shayok. THT and Lard is going to A) be one pretty darn good defensive team and B) legit 4 scorers on the court...

We have talent and we have real depth...Very excited for this team.

They could always try him out and, if it is not working, medical RS him.

Assuming he wanted to go down that path.

Slow start for Zion could mean that is his best route, though I don't think were at that point yet. I am concerned this is his second injury in less 6ish months if he is pressing to catch up and re-injures himself again. If that happens a RS could be more of an option.

Conditt having mono even if mild or he has recovered had to hurt his ability weight gain and stamina to be ready for game one. Conditt needed to show his build/strength is B12 is important for him to earn minutes this year fortunately he shouldn't need to be pressed into duty this year until he is ready.

All in all though good to hear the positive reports and even Prohm sounds optomistic on all the new comers and Lindell. Exactly what I want to hear.

I guess that depends on the leadership on the team this year. You'd hope it won't won't be a problem - the best guys will play and that's that - but on a team with this much talent someone's going to draw the short straw. Just gotta hope they'll be a good teammate.

I love this class, but there is no way that all four of them make a significant impact on the rotation this year given what is back and ahead of them.

Maybe it sounds like it will be Horton-Tucker and Haliburton more than anybody. Fast development from those two guards would bode well for the future, and Griffin and Conditt have time to catch up for subsequent seasons, with or without a redshirt.

I am hoping Shayok, coming from an incredibly successful program and being much older than everybody else except the more soft-spoken NWB and Talley, comes in and takes over the pride, if you are following the Robert Muldoon reference.

I’d be surprised if we play more than 20 minutes a game with two bigs in the game, which means one of Solo or Jake would be the 8th or 9th guy rather than a regular rotation member. I suspect THT will play a lot of 4 since we have good rebounding guards and since he may be a little weak defensively on the perimeter. Hopefully he’s good enough to switch 1-4 even if he’s not going to be chasing B12 wings around the perimeter all the time. Barring significant offseason improvement, Solo and to a lesser extent Talley have some weaknesses that limit your offense when they’re playing outside in a 4 out 1 in set.

Lewis will be interesting. He’s got a solid prospect pedigree, and he showed some things at the end of last season, but the odds are against him. I think we're a tournament and it's actually kind of rare for a guy to have a mediocre freshman season like that and turn into a contributor on a good team in a year.

Just so you know, he's actually laughing at you in this picture. :)

It's actually a good point and it seems like Lewis is in a spot that he's going to need to fight for, but perhaps that's a good thing. I'd like to see him at a point where he's reacting without thinking.
