I can't see Prohm taking Haliburton out of the rotation when they get Wigginton and Talley back. Haliburton has really impressed me. Kind of a funky shot, but he's long, athletic and has been a really good passer and defender.

I can. Tyrese earned time but the before LW injury was to have him be the 1st off the bench at guard and I don't see Prohm as the type who changes plans a week into the season. He can thrive there play 1-3 depending on need and matchup still getting around starters minutes there.
Yeah I agree Haliburton won't be a starter, but he won't be phased out of the rotation completely.
I get what some of you are saying with the Jacobsen could play with Lard but that would be a very limited deal with how much we switch, having two players that arent as athletic as the wings they would be taking playing time from would hurt us greatly. Will they both play a lot against say Kansas you bet they will beyond that probably not much. Lard is likely going to be a killer energy guy that every team wishes they had.
Agreed. I expect to see a lot more "4 out, 1 in" concepts this year with our wing depth. Prohm was forced to play Lard and Young together last year, and their skill sets, while important, don't work together consistently in today's small ball world. He may tinker with big lineups now and again, but I think the majority of the time we'll be playing 4 perimeter and one post player at a time.
Even in my scenario above, I wouldn't cut Halliburton's rotation/minutes, either, and he has impressed me just as much as he has you. But I think he could rotate in behind either Wiggie or Babb and play either off guard or point guard. That's what I thought about him the first time I saw him play, last summer in D.M.
Either way, he's gonna be in an impact guy, this year.
I think Prohm has already been preparing for having that many players who can contribute right now. He has broken out the 3/4 court press on numerous occasions. I would expect that as the number of bodies available goes up he will be pressing more and substituting freely. Guys who are getting tired out by that style of play don't generally get upset about getting rotated to the bench regularly.

I just like the fact that we've played with four freshman on the floor at one time and they seem to actually enjoy defending a ball screen and clogging up passing lanes. There are going to be understandable lapses, but this is already an improvement on last year when we couldn't lock down and get a stop when we needed to.
Once we start seeing more accomplished big men, we are going to be more than ready to get Lard and Young back. Jacobson is greatly exceeding my expectations right now, but I'm not ready to have him (or Conditt) facing the likes of Azubuike or Konate all game long.
Also, an attacking Weiler-Babb is a fun thing to watch. He can really change the look of an offensive set.

How many teams have their starting PG occasionally shift over to the 4 when they play small ball. That is just impressive that he has the size and skills to be that versatile.

What is up with Terrence Lewis? He was a highly rated recruit coming out of high school but has only scored 5 points so far in his sophomore season.
He hit more threes than he missed in is last two years of high school. I think he is still behind on the defensive end and it is hurting his playing time. Hopefully he gets it figured out and he gets comfortable because having a 50+% sniper coming off the bench the next 2+ years would be huge.
He was a Top 150 guy, which can often times be a developmental player who doesn't peak until they are an upperclassman. He wasn't on the level of Wigginton or THT.
It looks like he doesn't have the talent or instincts that the freshmen do. That doesn't mean he can't improve, and he had some moments at the end of last season, but he looks one-dimensional and even that dimension looks shaky right now. He's a step behind on defense, which is probably the biggest reason he's been last off the bench. I think everyone is cheering for him, but the minutes just aren't there.
He isn't good right now. Maybe he will be some day but he isn't now
The ball sharing too is an improvement but that may just be more ability; many times there's at least 3 ISU players on the floor that can get to the hoop and make the defense respond.
I remember Prohm expressing lots of frustration last year with the team and that makes more sense watching a team that looks the part of being coachable. Not sure who it was or even if any individual last season was causing gridlock but it's certainly not there right now.
Lewis's defenses isn't very good right now. I saw multiple players he was responsible for penetrate and get layups the past couple of games. Prohm stresses that to earn time especially with THT and THal both have been better at that end earning more minutes.
Terrence can shoot and showed signs the last 10 games last year of being the 3 and D wing this team could use just hasn't carried over yet. I am a little concerned his confidence is where it needs to be right now with the freshman moving above him in the rotation already. Problem is if he's not performing on D he won't get minutes to make shots and get it raised.
I still think Lewis can be a good player at ISU but, he has more to prove. Hopefully he turns it around before the Conference season.
People still believe Lewis 3P% was accurate? I'm not writing him off or anything, but some boxscores listed 4 makes on 0 attempts.
