In this scenario, the B8 are not invited to a P4, after tx/ou exit...

I honestly believe you have to minimize adds since very few will add $/school. The reality is, every school outside the "power" conferences, is trying to get in. So, you max out revenue in order to make yourself as attractive as you can until you get an invite.

I would say BYU & UCF... if possible football only adds and for basketball keep it to the current teams. Cinci, Memphis and Hou are interesting. But it comes down to size, and money. I think those are the best options.

Geography goes out the window... this is not a marriage, this is get as much $ as you can to max out your program and get an invite.

It is kind of wild how many of the candidates have had basketball success. Only UCF/USF would really be a question as basketball schools. Some of these other adds could actually more than make up for Texas/OU. The Big 12 has been ridiculously good since it lost dead weight Nebraska/Colorado. Missouri hasn't exactly been great since they left either.

I struggled with the 4th team. I went BYU, Houston, and Cincinnati. I understand UCF is a large university and has a good football team but man that makes me want to throw up a little. If we look at the quality of the product the schools put on the field those are the logical 4. I don’t understand the hate for BYU. They are a quality program with a loyal fan base. Just looked at their average attendance numbers for 2019. 59,000 for football and 12,000 for basketball.

This needs more love. In a year they were in the NY6 conversation most of the year, when they played some games against the AAC and a huge game against Coastal as undefeateds, they drew less than UCF/Houston/Cincy/Memphis
I just read that the BYU vs Coastal game was the highest watched game on ESPNU since 2015.

True that BYU + 2 Texas schools per division throws that off. But with 9 conference games and a crossover we’d play KSU annually and we’d play KU and OSU 60% of the time, or a little more often than every other year (which was how often we played OSU from 1996 to 2011 anyway).

Probably doesn't matter because 10 conference games will probably become the norm under the new TV contracts. So in a 12 team conference- would not play 1 conference team each year.

Not a big fan of divisions even with 14 teams. From a scheduling standpoint, there can be a group of geographic rivals teams play every year, but still lump all teams in 1 conference. So 2 teams with best records make CCG.

I think BYU, UCF and Cincy are my locks, and I like adding USF for the 4th (2 Florida schools) to have a strong recruiting presence there. BYU would be the lone geographical outlier, replacing WV.

If you add Houston instead of USF, there are 2 outliers BYU and UCF geographically.

Cincy is the first choice in this poll only because everybody hates Mormons?

Idk about hate, but all things being equal I think most would rather not have a religious school if they could help it. I don’t have any problem with adding them, they are my top choice, but I understand a lot of the concerns about it.

Have you looked at our other options? Minus a B1G invite, we're in survival mode. You don't say "no thanks" to the best program available.

I do. We can agree to disagree.

After BU I dont want any more private religious institutions. I think BYU actually believes the things they claim to believe so I don’t think we’d have the same situation happen but I just don’t trust it.

If we had to go this route then BYU and Cincy are the no brainers. I think I'd the lean towards Houston and Memphis for the other 2. Don't quite get the UCF love

I don’t either. Nothing telegraphs G5 league more than a directional school No matter how many students, being in Florida for recruits, TV ratings etc.

BYU is the most valuable add so have to include. If Memphis could bring some sort of FedEx sponsorship they very well maybe worth adding. I dont see what Houston would bring that the big 12 doesn't already have.
