Everyone get a grip!

Just curious but does anyone really think that Harrison had anything to do with the logistics of that event? News flash people, he didn't invite the public in...Ames High did. The only thing he is responsible for is his speech and the team he chose.

Respect HB's decision and move on! He's still a part of the Ames community and you can't blame a kid for making a decision based on what HE wants not us! No more talk of not allowing Ames to play in Hilton, etc. He's a 17 year old kid, we should still be proud that a kid from Ames was the number 1 recruit in the country and will be playing for a likely hall of fame coach and a storied program.

I don't blame him for his decision...not thrilled about the way he played it out though! And while I will never wish bad on someone...I really don't care about his career from here on out! I don't know him...he hasn't played for a team I have passion for yet...and he won't in the near future. So I just don't care about him now...but you can bet when/if UNC is being beaten by a cinderella team in the tourney...I will be rooting for cinderella! HB brings nothing to UNC for me personally so I will continue to feel the same way toward UNC, Duke, etc. HB owes me nothing...and I owe him nothing as well...

It's this kind of attitude that helps us wallow in mediocrity. Didn't George Mason make it to a final four? And Mississippi State? Why the hell not us? And as far as HB goes, he wins a championship, 20 years from now, Carolina fans won't even remember when he played for them, and Iowa State fans will still be bitter. That's not hating on HB, that's life, but he'll have his big pillow filled with money to cry himself to sleep.

Point taken - but the fact that people on here are wishing bad things in the direction of HB for not choosing ISU is idiotic. HB made it clear along this recruiting trail that he wanted to go somewhere that he could SEROUSLY compete for a championship. Yep - George Mason and Miss State made it past the sweet sixteen, what, once? Of course it's possible for ISU to be a contender, but it's not his job to make ISU fans feel like we're relevant, it's the guys currently on the team. It's HB's job to do what's right for HIM.

I don't understand while everyone here feels Harrison wronged him like he was their best friend. He doesn't owe you guys anything, doesn't have to make you feel good about the way he does things. Harrison needs to be concerned with whether or not he is happy. Not making you guys happy. If it makes him and us happy at the same time, fantastic, but he didn't. Get over it.

He never made any promises to anyone, never promised the staff he would come to ISU if he could use their facilities, they let him in knowing full well there was no guarantee that he would pick us.

This. Never once did he lead us (or anybody) to believe he had a school in mind. Had he cut us from the list months ago everyone would have complained that "he didn't even seriously consider ISU, blah blah blah".

Very well put!

"Respect HB's decision and move on! He's still a part of the Ames community"

for those of you that grew up in Ames this idea may provide some sort of comfort or ability to cope with the situation. but for a lot of us (and i'm going to assume most that are extremely upset and being very vocal about it) we did not grow up in ames or go to AHS and HB being a part of the community is meaningless to us. His choosing not to be a member of the ISU MBB team and the way in which it seems he went about it is all that matters to us. Just because we and he(HB) are Iowans, does not mean that we are obligated to support him in any way.

What I'm really looking forward to is a few years down the road when he makes it in the NBA and starts getting the shawn Johnson treatment (someone else i'm told that I should like just because they too are from Iowa?) I'm sure, as they like to do so often, WHO will remind us of "the player that didn't go to ISU" is now tearing it up in the NBA.

To me, that would have been better than stringing ISU along for months.

HB is basically a really hot girl. Stick with me here. She,s been friends with Mike the boy next door all her life. She flirted with him and spent time with him and always made it seem like there was a chance that she would fall in love with him. Then, her junior year, all the senior football players notice how hot she is. She starts getting all of this attention. Instead of telling Mike that she really wants to date a popular boy, she keeps spending time with him, eats dinner with his family, and talks to him on the phone for hours at night.
Then a week before the prom, not only does she accept Johnny populars invitation to the prom, she does so it at Mike's locker, right in front of him, and makes out with Johnny.

Mike should just be happy for her and wish her the best, because they are friends?

Dude. Plus 1. That was well said. I still disagree, but well said!

WOW! I had a similar metaphor but it involved a tiny monkey, a volkswagon, & 3 gypsy nuns :jimlad:

I talked to HB's best friend after the announcement and he said the Skype idea was HB's. He is not anyone's puppet, including his mom's. He was in charge of what happened today.

This has to be from a movie...

Not true. AHS athletic director Judge Johnston has said that inviting the general public was HB and Shirley's idea.

I don't respect him at all. He used ISU's facilities, coaches and players and that is BS to me. In fact I wish him ill will at UNC.

Funny that nobody was complaining about Harrison being so close to ISU's program before his decision. It was a HUGE advantage for ISU that he got to be around our players & coaching staff so much over the last couple of years. Now all of a sudden that means he used us? The street runs both ways. Harrison certainly benefited from his contact with the ISU hoops team but let's not pretend that ISU didn't get anything out of the deal either.

By this logic, any high school player that ever plays a pick up game with current ISU players automatically has to choose the Cyclones even if he has other options, otherwise he was just using us. That's just silly.

I get what you are saying BUT it was kind of a ****** way af announcing it. If you are going to go to UNC don't invite us. Invite you're special friends and family, not US!

Exactly! The whole thing came off very cheaply for ISU. That burns me. The whole thing could have been done with a lot more respect to ISU. I was going to stick a comment in here about Ron Harris but I guess I won't.

More respect for ISU how? By choosing them? By telling them they weren't in it even though he may not have decided? Nobodies whining about how he disrespected Oklahoma or Duke, why ISU? Because he lives here? That's BS, this is the way the recruiting game goes. You spend a lot of time/effort/money on a kid who may not choose you, then you move on to the next kid. He didn't do anything any other top recruit wouldn't have done.

Obviously cyclone nation cares greatly about him :jimlad: :biglaugh:
dude give it a rest with your constant defending to the death of HB. not to call a cyclone fan a hawkeye but you're really being a hawkeye right now, or at least a smug little man that is unwilling to accept that other people have opinions. your not going to convince anybody. I mean you've been on here for 5 straight hours!!! stand down
