Everyone get a grip!

I don't know why I always expect ISU fans to act better than the average moron, it never plays out that way, and yet every time I just hope that people won't be idiots. Hopeless optimist I guess.

Wow you are such a grown-up. I feel you. It must be so tough be down here with the rest of us, you must feel so dirty. You should leave and take a shower. 1,000 apologies to your mature sensibilities.

signed,

Every ISU fan (I guess)

I understand that, I just always hope that we're better than that, and by we I mean you people, I'm not jumping off the deep end saying we should go to Ames High games and boo him.

One guy said that and got roundly criticized by several people. Stop generalizing.

I'm thinking I might just not look at CF for about the next 24 hours or so now till it cools down here. Wow, sad how poorly some of our fans are reacting right now.

According to 3TruFans it's the entire fanbase. Excluding him, of course.

Every fanbase in the country would react the same way. Stop the high and mighty act.

Well, no. I think most fan bases would have realized that Barnes wasn't going to be a Clone long before today and would have gotten over it. The writing was very much on the wall.

A lot of people on here are acting like their girlfriend just cheated on them. It's freaking college basketball, it means jack compared to anything that actually matters in life. We got a bunch of sore losers on here. Move on.

True, but honestly the kid doesn't intrigue me anymore. I hope he has a great career but I'm sure I will never follow it. I think every time I do see him play I will get sick.

Agreed. He is just another guy that bought into the Dickie V's of the world. He will be a good 6th man for UNC next year, go pros, be a serviceable pro but will fade into ambiguity before too long.

If he wants to go to UNC or elsewhere, more power to him.

But don't extend an open invitation to people the hometown of the college who has high hopes for you to choose them, but don't in the end.

Some pretty shallow people on here.

Can you really blame the kid for wanting to win a championship?? Wasn't going to happen here, end of story. I for one wish him the best. HB's decision is disappointing, but so is reading some of these posts.

At least hopefully now we won't talk about the possibility of Brackins staying one more year again to play with HB for the next 6 months.

Well said.

Ok...so Cardinal Jesus is dead to me... but with that said.

Part of me is really OK with his choice. To many people think that he would have been the be all end all but forget there are four other people on the floor the same time as him. It's not one player that wins titles...its a team...

Respect HB's decision and move on! He's still a part of the Ames community and you can't blame a kid for making a decision based on what HE wants not us! No more talk of not allowing Ames to play in Hilton, etc. He's a 17 year old kid, we should still be proud that a kid from Ames was the number 1 recruit in the country and will be playing for a likely hall of fame coach and a storied program.

I completely agree! One thing I learned this year is you have to look out for numero uno. UNC would be very hard to turn down.

That's fine he picks UNC, but I don't like how the whole thing was handled. I know he is 17.

How was it handled poorly? He did a very good job at handling the situation.

I wish him failure, I really do. I don't like Roy Williams thus I don't like UNC. It isn't sour grapes...I wish all attending UNC for basketball nothing but failure.

Wishing everyone that goes their failure? You must be a real loser.

I get what you are saying BUT it was kind of a ****** way af announcing it. If you are going to go to UNC don't invite us. Invite you're special friends and family, not US!

He really didn't invite "us." The public invitation started with Ames High School. Although the media was there and a few of us ISU fans, the event was mostly HB telling his friends about his decision (in front of national media). Judge Johnson did a great job of getting the crowd ready. Lots of applause lines in the intro by Vance Downs, his coach, and by HB himself. When he finally made the announcement, there was robust applause and barely a hint of the booing or groaning that I thought might happen. I don't know what it looked like on TV, but in person, when he made the announcement, it was just like his friends congratulating him on his decision, whatever it was. They were the ones who really showed class.

I will respect his decision, just as I respected and understood the decisions of Heinrich, Collison, and LaFrentz. However I don't respect the way he invited a bunch of Cyclone fans in today to pat us on the head and say thanks but no thanks.

I honestly didn't pay attention that well back then. Did Heinrich, Collison, or LaFrentz consider ISU? I need a history lesson.

All in all, aside from choosing ISU, NC was the best case scenario.

No Big 12, no arrogant Duke, and I think UCLA was a non factor.

Barnes will be ok. Rich and loved by all his groupies. I don't feel bad for him. He took advantage of ISU players and staff... looks like he's real mature.

credits!

How did he take advantage of anyone?

I don't respect him at all. He used ISU's facilities, coaches and players and that is BS to me. In fact I wish him ill will at UNC.

They didn't have to let him...think the ISU players didn't benefit from this as well?

It's this kind of attitude that helps us wallow in mediocrity. Didn't George Mason make it to a final four? And Mississippi State? Why the hell not us? And as far as HB goes, he wins a championship, 20 years from now, Carolina fans won't even remember when he played for them, and Iowa State fans will still be bitter. That's not hating on HB, that's life, but he'll have his big pillow filled with money to cry himself to sleep.

My only beef with the decision is him inviting the public. Don't invite all these fans whom you know are going to be for ISU if you aren't picking us or aren't sure who you're picking. That was by far the stupidest decision. I'm fine with him going to UNC if he wants but don't invite the public. When our cheerleaders and pep band are there, he has to know he took this too far. That was dumb on his part. If you don't know or know you are not going to ISU then don't lead them on, don't invite us to your press conference thinking we have a real shot at this.

If you can't handle him not picking ISU, then don't go. No one was forced to go to/listen to this event.
