ESPN Full Court

oh, one more thing, it wouldn't surprise that if the games on are clonezone there's some sort of "rule" they can't be on ESPN full court. I remember reading the ISU release on how "great" it was they'd be on clonezone and thinking to myself "i bet they get booted from FC."

it would be really nice if cyclones.com had FAQ regarding tv scheduling/broadcasting etc. the problem is that things change so quickly (i believe) that whatever they tried to explain would probably change a few weeks later.

as an out of state fan who makes an effort to watch every game, even I get confused between espn channels, b12 network, CTN, mediacom, clonezone, etc. who the heck knows these days?

Sounds like a job some enterprising CF intern could handle. Surely you'd get some good site traffic out of maintaining a one-stop shop for a cyclone coverage reference.

here's my suggestion: everytime someone makes changes to the tv icons on the basketball schedule, they do a quick explanation of WHAT was changed and WHY it was changed. that would be so helpful.

so basically mediacom games are no longer on FC, but they're on clonezone. not a good change for people like me who buy full court, but good for iowa state as they get more $$$ from clonezone subscriptions.

in the past few days, "FC" icons have been added and deleted to the schedule on cyclones.com with no obvious explanation.

Considering they haven't updated the roster on the CF app since last year, I'm not sure if I'd trust that information.

Explanation from ISU Athletic Dept.

Mediacom-produced games will no longer be picked up by ESPN Full Court. Mediacom just completed a fiber-optic line direct from Hilton to their production studios, therefore, they no longer use any satellites to broadcast games from Hilton.

In the past, Mediacom allowed ESPN to pluck their games off the satellite and show them as part of the Full Court package, but since they are not using satellites in their production of Cyclone games anymore, that is not possible.

So people like me, who bought the Full Court package just for the MC games based on past experience, are screwed. For you Mediacom customers, however, maybe that fiber line will mean you'll start getting MC games in HD.

where did that info come from? email correspondence?

good work gumshoe.

So now I'll just have to get on Cedar Falls cable to see if they can get Mediacom to sell them their broadcasts. That may even make up for the price increase that they just sent out.

So, does this mean that there is no longer really any point to getting ESPN's Full Court package? I have gotten it for the last few years and was considering getting it this season, but if I can't watch ISU games there is no reason to get it anymore.

Question...is Clone Zone worth getting? I feel like I've read a lot of posts complaining about it. If it's only going to work half the time there's not much use in getting that either.

Good for Mediacom to get into the 21st century, but I'm disappointed that Full Court gets the bad end of that deal. FC is something I've really enjoyed the last few years, even if ISU BB hasn't been that great.

If you live in Iowa, yes, Full Court will become pointless. They will still carry the CTN and Big 12 Network games, so if you live outside the state that will still be a majority of the games and maybe worth it to you. But if you live in Iowa you will get most if not all of those games without Full Court. The only reason to buy it, at least for me, was to get the Mediacom games since I do not have their TV service.

I live in Colorado, so maybe FC is still worth getting. I"ll mull it over.

Thanks for all the homework you did on this.

Re: Explanation from ISU Athletic Dept.

homework = slacking at work

Thanks for the hard work. Looking at the new TV schedule, it looks like there are only 5-6 games scheduled for ESPN3 - does that mean the same amount of small potatoes for FC, or will FC show more than this? I may cancel FC tomorrow, having ordered it today on past experience like many of you.

They should make Clone Zone available on Roku. SEC and BYU each have channels on the Roku.

I hope Mediacom really greases ISU--because they have killed exposure of MBB outside the state of Iowa. This has got to have a negative impact on recruiting.

Not long ago you could watch all but one or two of ISU games through Full Court, regular ESPN games, etc. So sad those days are long gone--along with our relevance on the national stage.

It would be great if there was a way we could get access to CZ via Roku or other streaming devices. I can hook my laptop up to my TV but it's a pain in the arse to do it for every game.

I've never really understood why CTN only covers conference games. Is there some sort of rule causing that, or is it solely Mediacom paying a lot of money for them?

Does Mediacom have fiber to Drake's (or UNI's) stadium?
