Must put their big boy pants on and start contributing. Otherwise, what a freaking waste of two 6'9/athletic kids.

Would love to see these guys able to contribute more.

I too hope they can earn more time and keep working so CFH can put them in more.

well it's hard when they don't see the court at all. Gibson hasn't even gotten a chance this year, Edozie has been decent when he's played (he's a good rebounder, boxes out, honestly don't know why he doesn't play more). Fred's the coach, he sees these guys play everyday, but in my view Edozie needs to play more. Also, my biggest gripe right now with Hoiberg, and this is a recruiting issue, is that ISU has no size. ISU won't see teams like Kansas every night, however, to really make that next step, they need a Cato type player. Doesn't have to be as good, just a guy who can compete with the likes of an Embiid. I understand Fred's philosophy, but it's such a glaring weakness that teams are gonna take ISU inside now every game because ISU's interior defense is appalling.

That ship has sailed. Edozie will probably see his minutes increase slightly if the trend of getting pwned on the boards doesn't stop, but Percy's time is up, IMO.

Either way, we need to recruit a better big man to match up with teams like KU.

I agree. I don't see Gibson getting many minutes at all. But Edozie should be playing IMO. He plays tough interior defense, blocks some shots, boxes out better than anyone else on our team IMO, and he can run the court for a big guy too.

I don't understand why he doesn't play? I understand we need offense too, but not at the expense of allowing Embiid and others just dominate us inside all night long.

Isn't McKay that type of guy or am I mistaken?

I agree. At least give these guys a try in games when nothing else is working. Edozie could have bumped around with Black a little bit and gotten rid of him earlier.

Percy was hitting everything in the pregame warm ups. Hope his shot is coming around, now to work on defense.

From the first time I saw Percy play I felt he had a lot of talent, but it seems like he lacks the killer effort or will to win. It takes an incredibly focused effort, commitment and energy to play in this league.

Ellerman>Percy.
That downright sad of you to post something like this. When Fred recruited these 2, he knew he was signing them up to play Big 12 ball. What I don't understand is, if you don't plan on using them much and especially not at all against Big 12 competition, than why even waste the schollie? Gibson was oozing with talent when he stepped onto campus a few years ago. He had a great freshman year albeit feeding off of Royce's success. These are kids you've allowed to have a free education to come play for your team. Use them, Fred. Percy played a minute in the Baylor game and I thought he played damn well, even if just for a minute. My guess is both he and Edozie are ready to play. Waiting on you, Fred.

I know we prefer skilled small ball over size, but at times we really need to be better on defense and the boards. It is discouraging to then realize how reluctant we are to play those two.

I agree. We have three guys who want to rebound, which is fine. What isn't fine is that the closest guy to the rim isn't one of them. They do have to guard us too which usually we win the battle.

I am just glad next year we have 2 guys that can probably play defense at the 5 better than Niang so he isn't always undersized.

I wish that FH would have at least tried Edozie in there. If Niang can't hit a 3, that negates the advantages of small ball. Worth a shot.
