Drake Coach to CO State

I'm not really sure that Drake would be a much better job for TJ. The Valley isn't what it used to be with Wichita State and Creighton gone. Otz is making around $350,000.00 it looks like. I can't find Niko's salary information, but in looking for something comparable I see Missouri State's coach makes around $305,000.

Ride the Mike Daum bus one more year and hope for something better.

According to the Drake Newspaper he made at least $401,200.

Martin said Drake “made investments into the program” in order to hire Medved. This included an augmented salary pool to hire assistant coaches.

Martin added that Medved will be compensated among the top half of head coaches in the Missouri Valley Conference. This means Medved’s salary will be at least $401,200 per year, the median salary amongst MVC head coaches, according to an analysis conducted by The Times-Delphic.
Better than I thought it would be.

MVC is more than slightly better than the Summit League. I never said the Drake job was better than SDSU I just said the MVC is a pretty big step up and it is.

Conference Basketball RPI

I'm surprised MVC is over the MWC.

If I'm Drake, I hire Bryan Mullins.

Played at Southern Illinois, current top assistant at Loyola, outstanding defensive coach perfect for a defensive minded league. Dad runs the Illinois Wolves AAU program that has produced a ton of MVC level talent.

2 things... Porter Moser about to move up that list (unless he moves off that list) and Bradley is paying its coach 700K a season?!?!?!?

Jacobson makes almost $1M?! In Cedar Falls, IA? No wonder he is staying there! Mark Farley makes a little over 1/3 of that.

For a league of a bunch of average teams now with Creighton and WSU, that is a very large discrepancy in salaries between Jacobson and Lansing.

This is an accurate correction. I was actually talking to a friend about this the other day. I love college basketball. It's easily my favorite of all sports-- professional or collegiate. I will sit down and watch just about any random *** CBB game on TV. But I've never once had the thought pop up "hey, I should go check out that Drake game today." Affordable tickets, live basketball, could take the kids. But nope. There is just no excitement, no buzz. Other than Timmer I don't think I could have named anyone on the team from Emmenecker until now.

Also, they don't seem to pull much local talent. I see some kids from small towns across the state, but they never seem to pull any talent from the Des Moines/CIML area.

It's just a bad, bad brand. Bad gym, bad basketball, bad all around.

Drake should go after Lansing.

I'm an ISU grad and longtime season ticket holder for football and also a longtime season ticket holder for Drake basketball. Niko finally brought some excitement to the program and actually had some decent recruits coming in. I hope they can find someone to keep what ever momentum going. There's no reason Drake can't be successful.

Again, coach moves on to greener pastures after recruiting. Now are the students locked in without a penalty for transferring.

I was thinking Becky Hammon had a very legitimate chance of ending up there. It looks like she decided not to pursue the opening at her alma mater. I wonder how much interest was there from CSU's end.

Sucks for Drake.

Curious what will happen with the incoming recruits, including THT's teammate Messiah Jones. Jones was not highly ranked by any of the services, and had virtually no offers other than Drake, but he was considered a pretty good player in Chicago and probably the 2nd or 3rd best player on Simeon this year.
