Agreed and its pretty simple... Take SDSU to its 4th straight NCAA Tournament (his 3rd) or go to Drake and lose 20+ games.
TJ would be a fool to take that job now.
He seems like a good coach with a good personality. Not a thing wrong with the hire. Him leaving says more about the Drake job, than the coach. It is also a big step up for him to take.
Drake will never be a good job. Their athletic director has put no prioritization on the basketball program. The Knapp center is a glorified high school gym. The fan support is minimal at best. I've lived in Central Iowa and I've never been to a game. You just do see a trove of real passionate Drake alums out there.
However, if I was TJ if Drake does come calling I'm using them to try and get a pay raise out of South Dakota St if I can.
Smart move by Niko. Recruiting kids to Drake is tough enough to begin with but with Fran poaching all of the states mid major talent the Drake job is significantly more challenging.
Drake not playing on Thursday night at arch madness is miracle work...especially with that squad.

First, this stinks for Drake. Hopefully they can find someone who has local ties who can revitalize the fan base that is barely hanging on by a thread. They need someone who wants to come home, who has ties to State, the Hoks or UNI.
Second, Coach Otz isn't coming to Drake. Drake is a step down from SDSU. Brookings is tiny versus Des Moines but SDSU is a much better job than Drake. Be careful comparing the MVC versus The Summit League. The MVC isn't a Power 5. I would rather be in the best program in the Summit than possibly one of the worst in the MVC.

MVC is more than slightly better than the Summit League. I never said the Drake job was better than SDSU I just said the MVC is a pretty big step up and it is.

Oh yeah Colorado State is a much better job for sure. SDSU is debatable I think just because of how the Summit League is viewed
