Well one of the current coaches might actually be a bigger reason than anyone realized for that run. Sounds like a compliment to me.

I think we all knew who TJ was responsible for being at ISU, but he didn’t have that “HC experience” everyone was craving after having some of our best years with a coach that had never even sat on a bench as a coach before. The Fred leaving/Prohm hire was CF in its purest form. bUt PrOHm wAZ gOoD rEcRuIteR tWo.

Yeah, to make it work you have to have six or seven who fit that system. At least 3 guards, 3 posts and one more of either. Best case scenario is you have 3 starting guards with at least two of them around 6-6 who can drive and shoot from outside. Fred has a few pieces but it falls way off after those.

It's just weird to me that he can't find the right pieces. With his NBA background and a new arena, it shouldn't be that hard to recruit. You need a playmaking PG, a couple of wings that can shoot, a stretch 4 that can shoot and drive and then a rim protector. A couple of backups in the same mold and you have a team that can at least win some home games in that conference. I wouldn't sign anyone other than a 5 that couldn't shoot the 3.

He’s 44 years old, I think he was coaching in some high school in Wisconsin back then but maybe he moonlighted by driving to Ames for Larry to yell at him about ball placement on the rack.

I just did home games. They get 2 shots at Iowa before seasons end and Iowa isn't exactly burning up Carver.
