I was wondering how many people have a second favorite team after Iowa State. I have had a couple over the years, Purdue with Brees and West Virginia when Pat White was a Fresh/Soph. But never a rock solid #2 for college.

Since I moved to the Twin Cities I am finding that I have picked up the Vikings and Twins as solid #2 teams in their respective sport.

So the question, is there a second team that you cheer for during the entire season? If so who? Also is it sport specific, only cheer for that team in football or basketball.

Ironically, my number two team for a while was Iowa. That was, until I realized what a high percentage of ***-bags make up the Hawkeye fanbase.

After having some friends attend there and attending several football games I will have to say that Oklahoma State is my 2nd favorite team. I cheer for them as long as they aren't playing the Cyclones.

I'll get killed for this, but I have a distant second. It's The U.

The very first college football game I ever saw in person was Miami-Texas 1991 Cotton Bowl. Miami took Texas out behind the woodshed and showed them how the game was played. Ever since then, I've followed them.

One of the best games I ever saw in person was Miami-FSU in 2000. The Orange Bowl was a dump though.

1. Iowa State
2. Notre Dame
3. Oregon, West Virginia, Stanford

Seems I have a thing for some of the schools I've visited. :wideeyed:

My second favorite team is whoever is playing the Sqwaks... Can't believe that hasn't been said yet.

Outside of ISU I am generally a fan of players and coaches. Same with the NFL, There are just specific players I root for.

Oregon State (where I attended grad school) and U of Colorado (since I live in Colorado).

Notre Dame. But I almost pay attention. And only for FB.

Pretty much follow ISU and then whatever might be on that trips my trigger.

Upside - I don't see much reason to leave the lots early or get there late....

My wife went to Va Tech, so they're easily #2 for me.

They're a good 2nd team. Their games very rarely affect Iowa State, making cheering for them easy. Also, their success in football is exciting, what with them always contending for the ACC title and regularly in the BCS and on the periphery of the national title picture.

1. ISU (alumni - My wife and I graduated from ISU.)
2. Notre Dame - I root for them since my older brother WENT to school there....thus, haveing some sort of "tie" to ND. If we ever meet.....of course I would root for ISU to beat ND.

I always think of U of Iowa as #2 ...oh you mean which team do we follow second?

I'd go with Oregon. I'm a runner and Oregon is a runner's "mecca". The football program is worth watching too.

I think they showed highlights of that on "The U" on ESPN.
I think they were really upset about being there and took it out on Texas.
Man, would I love to have Miami regain some of that luster.
