We have to really settle down about this......

Some of us are doing this:

Some of us our pouring gas on the kitchen floor next to a Zippo, which for some reason is lit?

I don't want GMac fired now... only because there's no way in the world we can land anyone better than him right now.

If we aren't at least a .500 team next year, he HAS to go... period. But you have to do it right after the season is over so you can go get someone better. It's too late right now to be firing your head coach IMO. If JP was going to fire him, he should have done it after the last game.

No, some of us are tired of losing....i guess when you don't when championships or even contend, much less win a majority of big 12 games....apathy sets in and people do not tend to make any non-conservative moves anymore.....which in the long run tend do much more good than not

There is no option of neither...

If we decide to fire Mac... I won't be upset... but I won't be upset if we keep him.

I'm just here to watch and support ISU basketball regardless of coach. I'm not going to engage in the war between the "Mac Supporters" and the "Fire Mac crowd".
Same here. And I'm abstaining from voting.

I hear you guys and I would rather have someone else behind the wheel right now also, but some of the crap that is being spewed from this board right now is not good.

I would post like you are talking face to face with Melvin Ejim. Because I would bet my house that he or his parents are reading.

Just a thought.

I would tell him that I hope he is coming to ISU for the school and not the coach. Because after his freshman year, I would expect a new coach.

I would be surprised if he ever puts on an ISU uniform.

Doesnt seem too cryptic to me.

He would be surprised to see one of our incoming recruits put an ISU uniform next year. There must surely be a reason... yet none given. Leaving it up to speculation... a common practice that leads to rumors. Maybe if a reason was given... there would be no speculation as to if it's grades, a problem with the coaching staff, a terminal illness, ISU changing it's abbreviation thus none of our players are wearing "ISU" uniforms next year.

It's the same thing as KG saying, "JR will be our third option at the 5 spot next year". Obviously we can speculate as to why... but people complain that he's not giving the full story.

Alternatively... if cryptic is a bad choice of wording... then an "I know something you don't know" post might be more appropriate... which people also seem to dislike on here.

Nothing new here. I actually expected the vote to be much worse. With negative bent of this blog Mac did not have a chance. All of you want him fired and we have heard that over and over...ad nauseum. So, keep your cryptic comments and your constant whining, I will continue to support our coach until that changes.

I just have this gut feeling that the Men's B-ball team will do better than expected this season. Being an ISU fan for 25 years, I know better now than to predict whether we will suck or if we will be great. It seems to me that the teams that are expected to do well don't and vice versa. Think of what most peoples expectations were last year for football, men's basketball, and women's basketball and then compare that to the final record. I'll be pulling for this team (and coach) to surprise, but if it doesn't happen then I'll just keep believing that I jinx the teams I support....

(cough, vikings will win the super bowl, cough, cough)
THis is your 666 post?

this is my stance..
I want him gone but
know that is not going
to happen this year I am still going to support him and the team next year.. if they do really well then we
will see.. if not thn he needs to be gone..

on a side note idk if it was posted but espn has us in the NCAA tournament... if the field expands that is.. and we are like a 17 seed

Alright, let's break it down a little

1) We are 18-50 in conference. Yes, that is a 26.5% winning pct. Besides Colorado being 14-55 (20.3% win pct) in the same span, nobody has been worse in Big 12 conference play.

2) Of our 18 conference wins in 68 total games, 10 of those wins were against either Nebraska or Colorado, who have been the two worst teams in Big 12 conference play since 2006-2007 besides ISU. ISU is 8-40 against teams not in the bottom 3 of the Big 12 since 06-07 (16.7% win pct).

3) We have 0 winning seasons overall. As mentioned before, our conference record is 18-50, but our overall record is 59-68. Meaning our non-conference record is 41-18. In there, we are 6-8 against BCS schools (not Big 12), so basically we are 35-10 against mid major or lower conferences, and 24-58 against BCS conference schools.

4) 17 of his 36 players have either transferred, quit, or been kicked off the team. In other words, if you were to take any 2 players who have played for GMac, there's a good chance ONE of them either transferred, quit, or was kicked off the team. Of the 19 players who haven't quit, transferred, or been kicked off the team....6 of them were walk ons. That means more actual recruited players have left the program than stayed.

5) We have been to 0 post seasons. Not the NCAA Tournament, not the NIT, not the CBI. ZERO

6) Like players quitting isn't bad enough, we've even had coaches quit.

7) We have only beaten 1 ranked team in 20 tries (I believe) since 06-07

8) We have only beaten 2 teams (Purdue and Kansas State) that made the NCAA tournament in four seasons.

9) We have the worst home record since the mid 1970s in the span since 06-07 in Iowa State history.

So tell me, why in God's name would I want to keep this guy hired in my right mind again? If this was my employee, he would have been gone two years ago.

Also, Cam Lee (a transfer) was a walk on. And Craig especially (and technically Lucca) did not 'quit'. They left for professional status early... we can call it quitting... but generally it's a good thing if your players are good enough to become professionals before their graduation. However, I'll admit Lucca's timing and method of declaring Pro was enough that I'd accept it if you count him as quitting the team.

I noted this in another thread, but while we've had one player who's already played in the NBA, and 2 more who will be drafted.....we couldn't even record a winning season with them and not even close in conference play.

So yes, good job recruiting a few NBA caliber guys, but it doesn't mean anything if you can't even win with them.

Agreed. Too many miss this point.

Which would people rather have? A team full of players, none of whom make it to the NBA, but the team wins........or a team with 3 or 4 NBA players that can't win at the college level?
