Do not like the pending hire

and the pattern is not to my liking is happening. The new S&C coach is a step down from what Iowa State has had since the Walden days. I do not like the continued loyal ties to "native" Iowans for jobs on the staff that did not coach at BCS schools. The OC hire is great....the rest have alot left to be desired. Coming from a Marshalltown native and knowing Coach Loney and and the family of of new S&C wife to say I am a little worried is to say the least.

What are your qualifications to make these judgments? Many years as a coach or the fact that you are from Marshalltown?

the great news was put on hold for 2 reason...One the economy went south and so did Chizik's favor with certain donors and lack of game day improvment, this all happend the last 6 months of the year. Basically we are a a day or so and a week from national signing day away and we half a staff of not so glowing hires. I just hope Paul isnt playing favs with some of his old buddies.

Well let me try to decipher this mess.

My handle is bobcat. My name is robert and i like kittens. I know coach loney by way of the newspaper and my cousin Rodney had a crush on the new S&C wife and she didn't like him. My hero is yoda and I enjoy speaking in code and only letting other jedi masters figure out what I'm saying. After minutes of studying youtube tapes of the new S&C I firmly believe he's not right for our program. Please excuse me while I clean the litter box.

McKnight isn't from Iowa, his wife is. Does that make him a bad hire? CPR knows what he is doing.

I'm curious as to what standard you're judging this by--going by the only objective standard I know (results at the NFL Combine, let alone on the field), our S&C coaches have been mediocre at best going back to Donnie Duncan.

I do not like the continued loyal ties to "native" Iowans for jobs on the staff that did not coach at BCS schools.

Now, this one I can't argue with. Hiring Iowans just because they're Iowans can be just as bad a premise as recruiting Iowans simply becase they're Iowans. The talent has to be there in the first place.

I want Iowa State to win and have great seasons as much as any of you however the fact remains that we have been down this road before and until I see results I have to question the way this staff is being put together and the talent that comes with it.

:no:Actually, you don't have to do any such thing, you simply choose to. I for one, wouldn't mind at all if you kept your opinions and negative crapola to yourself.

:confused:Just because a coach hasn't had an opportunity at this level, or isn't written up as an, "up and coming commodity", by ESPN magazine, or some other national publication that does it's research on increasing sales, not on sports, doesn't mean they're not qualified or able to get the job done.

:yes:Bum Phillips went from high school coach to head coach of the Houston Oilers and was successful, although he never took them to the Superbowl. I'm pretty sure most people didn't think Bum was qualified for that position either.

Couple thoughts on these coaches having ties to Iowa. I, personally, don't care if they have Iowa connections or not. If they're a great fit for the position and have Iowa ties, great. If they're a great fit for the position and don't have Iowa ties, great. I think the athletics department is emphasizing even if it's some far-stretched, six-degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon-type connection to Iowa in each hire it applies to ease some people who were completely upset about Chizik leaving like he did and not caring about Iowa or being committed to us, blah blah blah...so I don't think it's a bad thing to tell everyone a particular coach has an Iowa tie. I highly doubt we're hiring coaches based on that! Like I said, the new coaches having some sort of tie to our state is probably comforting to some, and clearly by some of these posts is the opposite to others. Just have some faith and take it for what it is.

Dude, do you have a stuttering problem in real life or just on message boards? Slow down and catch your breath. We are all friends here.

If you go to this link: Rice Official Athletic Site, it says he is married to the former Lynn Karns of Joplin.

You say the OC hire is great, yet he recommended the S&C coach that you do not like. How can both of those be true?

Don't you have some racist remarks to make on a board of one of our rivals?

4. Will get fans involved by holding "Iron Cyclone Night" where we will be invited to see strength testing.

Can fans participate too?

I'm curious to see the opinion of SCclone and Kcclone? They were pretty vocal about the previous staffs and the search... What do they think?
