Do not like the pending hire

I want Iowa State to win and have great seasons as much as any of you however the fact remains that we have been down this road before and until I see results I have to question the way this staff is being put together and the talent that comes with it.
First of all the road you are talking about is the best road ISU has been down in football since the 70's. Second, I hope PR will surpass DMac's standard in a few years but if you are looking for the sure thing what the **** are you supporting ISU for. I hear the Patriots, Yankees, Blue Devils, and USC are looking for fans.

Thanks for making me chuckle!:biglaugh:

How true! You can't be a fair weather fan and be a Cyclone!

I think this is a good hire. His experience at Tulsa and Rice and the offense that they have had and his background in The Adam Course is a good background for this position. The Adams Course is known as one of the top programs for Strength and Speed, and with the Spread Offense this is very important. It is not all about lifting weights, it is also about developing the speed we need to compete in the B12.

According to James Casey, star receiver for Rice, Herman and McKnight are responsible for making his success and why he is able to leave early for the draft. Casey was not a 4 star stud, but someone these 2 new cyclone coachs built from the ground up into a playmaker.

"Special thanks to Coach Tom Herman and Coach Yancy McKnight for everything they have done to make my time at Rice a memorable experience. Without Coach Herman and Coach McKnight, there is no way I would be where I am today, and I have deep gratitude for everything they have done on my behalf."

A couple of quotes from the responses to that article:

To be expected I guess, but what a drag. Yancy made a huge difference in the program.

Many of the players are really upset, hurt, grieving, depressed, you name it. They had as much respect for Yancy as any coach in the program- what he said really mattered to them, and I get the idea most of their hard work was to gain his respect. This one really hurts- much more so than Herman.

Would our current players say this ^^^^ about Shep?

Yeah, can't believe we hired this guy. He sounds like a complete loser. :jimlad:

Where do I start...

1. Gee, Iowa swears by their S/C coach Chris Doyle - he came to IC from one of those "non-BCS schools" - Utah State.
2. OC Herman campaigned for McKnight - Rice players loved him, and oh by the way set lots of strength records under his watch.
3. He emphasizes consistent strength progression in the major lifts - power clean, squat, and bench. Takes average talent (at Rice, Tulsa) and makes them faster. Ask coach Herman.
4. Will get fans involved by holding "Iron Cyclone Night" where we will be invited to see strength testing.

This is a great coaching hire - best of all of 'em, IMO. I was not excited about the Browns guy.

Again, Tornado Man has no clue what he is talking about.

Bobcat, before making an opinion on someone, wait and see what happens first before speaking out of your rear end like Tornado Man.

Iowa State's D-line stuffing teams on 3rd and short(and some 4th and shorts as well) repeatedly the last couple years takes a dump on the notion that McKnight was a bad hire.

That and the recent pro day results. Jake McD with 37 reps on bench?!
