Dirty Creston Cops (Both found Guilty)

Re: Dirty Creston Cops

This is a very vague generalization, but I would imagine the average small town cop in Iowa MAYBE has a CC degree and got beat up a lot in HS.

I agree, cops that join small town departments, usually just want that 2 year degree so they can get revenge on the people who made their lives hell in HS. Real police officers that want to make a difference join departments that matter like NYPD, or the federal level.

Re: Dirty Creston Cops

Your comparing high time crimes to this one? really!? Innocent till proven guilty. Oh and btw OJ got off.
If someone says you shouldn't pass judgment until the trial is over, it doesn't matter how big or well publicized the crime was.

Stupidest thing I've read in awhile.

Re: Dirty Creston Cops

Did you follow own advice in trials for OJ, the unibomber, Timothy McVeigh, etc.?

None of those cases were he said/she said cases, like this one. There was very hard evidence in all three of those cases, and two of the three defendants admitted at least some fault, and their trials were an attempt to get a lesser charge.

Re: Dirty Creston Cops

good point. but maybe to save face with her significant other? so that relationship doesn't end on her mistake (not saying she is lying.. just the what ifs).

That is the thing about these he/she said situations.... most of the time the truth is never known. And isn't that the purpose of a trial, to get to the absolute truth? I hope her story isn't true.. I wouldn't wish that on anyone ... but a false accusation is almost as bad as the act itself.

Kinda thought about that too. Tough situation these cases are. There is never a credible witness, ever.

My experiences with small-town cops is they are more likely to be former playground bullies or guys who had their best days back when they were stars of the HS basketball team.

None of them are perfect, but people aren't exactly lining up for these jobs. At least not until the past few month.

Nice generalization.

Small town cops have a much harder job than a cop in a big city.

Dumb man...ever thought there might be a cop on this site...and your comment is just stupid...

in some ways, yes and some ways no.

They are two different animals.... I would rather be a cop in a small town where I know 80% of the ppl that live there and can recognize strangers or visitors... than police a large city... where I really don't know 1% of the citizens.

man.... electrons can sure hurt emotions. :jimlad:

Re: Dirty Creston Cops

I agree with Keep....unless one of the sides admits to lying we'll never know the truth. This is purely a he said/she said situation.

That is the reason it is harder to be a small town cop. Everyone recognizes you no matter if you are working or not. A very fine line has to be walked.

and to be fair.. it wouldn't matter your job in a small town... everyone recognizes you no matter if you are working or not.

Line me up 10 normal citizens and 10 Des Moines cops in row. I couldn't tell you one from another. Yet EVERYONE knows THE cop in really small towns. If you don't think that is hard, I don't know what to tell you.

Add to that waiting 20 mins for county to get to you for backup, etc, etc.

I know 1 small town cop VERY well, and another fairly well. Not easy.

I agree with your point av8r ... I am saying the same ppl in a small town know the guy that runs auto-repair shop that also know the cop. Its that way for all ppl working and living in a small town ... not just coppers. And they will judge that auto-repair shop too the actions of that owner when he isn't 'punched in'.
