DirecTV/Viacom

Yeah, we watch an episode of "Mike the Knight" or "Bubble Guppies" each night to wind down at bedtime. It's not going to be favorably looked upon that it's missing. Other than that, not much we'll miss besides Tosh and It's Always Sunny reruns.

Have you checked out any of the PBS Kids shows? My daughter is a fan of Martha Speaks and Dinosaur Train. You might find some stuff there that is a good replacement while Nick Jr. is off the air & I think both are also available on Netflix.

Yeah, PBS has some good cartoons but most of them are in the morning I think.

My big issue is when Disney rolls over to tween shows. My kids hate iCarly and the like.

pretty funny.. I have directv and I am only slightly annoyed.

Basically viacom offers 15 channels of crap, 2 channels worth something and then want directv to pony up $1B for the whole 17 channel package.

I agree with directv, maybe then should pay 300 mil for mtv, 200 mil for comedy cent and 100 mill for nick and then viacom should go produce some better channels to sell more channels...

Agree with directv that Viacom is f-ing them over. However, at the same time, directv is now f-ing us over by making us pay for channels we can't watch.

We are paying for crap we don't want to watch but can. We definitely shouldn't have to pay for crap we don't want to watch and can't watch even if we could.

**** Viacom, I love comedy central.......but direct tv holds the cards, they have to be the biggest customer for Viacom. Let them go one quarter and watch their shareholders **** a brick with the drop in revenue.

Direct tv might come out ahead by telling Viacom they will now pay 30% less than they were before.

Pay per channel would take care of this issue.

I doubt it. Do you realize how expensive a la carte cable would be? Things like ESPN would be $20 per subscriber because they can bully their way on at $4 per subscriber right now. Cut the number of subscribers and channels just became stupid expensive.

true, if this goes on very long, i will call directv and make them cut my bill as they are violating my contract by not giving me the package we agreed on.

I was wondering about this. I almost wanted to call and complain to see if they would at least give me some free stations for a while (HBO, Starz, etc.) to make up for the stations that went away. I don't watch half of them but they were an original part of my package.

i called and got free Sunday Ticket, 10 dollars off per month on my bill, starz and showtime free 6 months. not only did i complain about viacom, but said a local cable company is offering the red zone channel free..which you have to full sunday ticket get it with Directv. it took a couple calls to retentions, but very happy now

If they charged $20 no one would subscribe and you'd see more competition. I'd like to know exactly what I'm paying for each channel so I can decide what I want. I'd don't think espn would try to charge anything close to $20. It just like hbo today. Some people are willing to pay $12 and others are not.

ESPN was $3.80 per subscriber back in 2007. It'd be ridiculously expensive.

They are giving you encore and MLB extra innings (or whatever) right now until this is over.

I'm honestly confused. How does 3.80 in 2007 relate to $20 in 2012?
I'd guess it's ~$4.25 now. Take away a lot of subscribers who don't want it and it's going to jump because they aren't going to give up revenue. ESPN would be just as bad as HBO, which was $15? to add to my DTV package and that wasn't included the fixed costs associated with the pain in the *** the cable companies would all have.
