DirecTV/Viacom

Blah blah blah...this **** happens almost twice a year between Direct TV and various companies. Both will start running ads about how they are the victims and they are fighting for their viewers/customers. Both will do everything they can to make the other look like the villain.

There will be many deadlines to get this deal done, and each time the deadline is about to expire, there will be an extension to get it done. Eventually, after many deadlines and many extensions of those deadlines, the deal will get done, and it wont effect any of the customers.

Yep, the only one that I've ever seen that went past the "deadline" (which seems like a loose term) was the CW vs. DirecTV several months ago - and it's not like that was a big loss. But that got cleared up, too.

This is what happens with massive companies when their business plans become outdated. Wait till they start suing their customers.

The deadline has already passed and the channels are blacked out.

Not true. When Comcast and DirecTV got in a ******* match over fees for OLN (which became Versus and now is NBC Sports Network) in 2009 DirecTV pulled the channel from September 2009 to March 2010. Not a big deal for most, but cycling fans had a hard time getting our fix. I was also starting to get nervous that we wouldn't have any Tour coverage.

I was just saying CW was the only one I'd personally ever seen. I don't know that we even have OLN.

Yes, I should have quoted the post you quoted. They often get deals done but they also aren't shy about playing hardball and yanking the channel to get what they want.

I know that one I saw, they also put up a snarky message about why it was pulled. They all fight dirty.

Yup. Girlfriend was watching Teen Mom last night about 10:45 last night and it blacked out right at the end. Thought the remote was going through the TV screen.

Take a look at the full list of Viacom channels...

Palladia, Centric, Tr3s, CMT, Logo, NickToons, VH1 Classic, TeenNick, Nick Jr., Nick@Nite, Spike, BET, VH1, TV Land, Comedy Central and – of course – Nick and MTV.

It seems pretty ridiculous to me that all of a sudden Viacom thinks they need 30% more from the masses to grace us with that plateful of broadcast feces. I have no problem with DirecTV holding firm on this one.

I like the Daily Show & Colbert Report, but that's easy enough to watch online. My teenage son is going to be annoyed that he can't watch Tosh.0 and South Park reruns for the 35th time but I think he will survive. My 6 year old will miss Nick Jr., but I'd rather have her doing other things than watching TV anyway. The rest of the crap on that list won't be missed at all.

Yeah, we watch an episode of "Mike the Knight" or "Bubble Guppies" each night to wind down at bedtime. It's not going to be favorably looked upon that it's missing. Other than that, not much we'll miss besides Tosh and It's Always Sunny reruns.

Nick Jr is so much better than Disney, which stops showing cartoons later in the day. My kids are going to be ticked. I am also going to miss Colbert and Jon Stewart.

Hopefully they get this resolved without raising rates too much.

And no constant commercials, which is pretty sweet.

Looks like we're going to have to record "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" for wind-down time.

At that time of night, it was a rerun anyway.

Have you checked out any of the PBS Kids shows? My daughter is a fan of Martha Speaks and Dinosaur Train. You might find some stuff there that is a good replacement while Nick Jr. is off the air & I think both are also available on Netflix.

I just noticed that Dish Network is having a similar spat right now with AMC. I wonder if they will get things worked out before Breaking Bad starts?

We'll have to try that! We've caught the odd episode of "Curious George" on Netflix, and she really likes that. (She'll be two later this month.) She loooooves dinosaurs, so "Dinosaur Train" sounds promising. Thanks, you rock! I'm all out of rep for right now. :skeptical:

I'm outraged! How am I going to get my fill of Scrubs reruns now?!?!? :realmad:
