Only saw the box score but looks like KU did well on the ground against Texas today.
So many things we accomplished today SHOULD have been accomplished due to the competition. But, Jantz was throwing good balls all night, very catchable. That is a good measuring stick regardless of competition and he did a great job there. Barnett has at least 8 completely uncatchable balls every game.
Also, having a run game and all day to throw helps a bunch. Not having any of these things in the Tech game was a huge reason he looked so bad.
Also had about 8 drops. The pass was horrilbe that was picked. The fumble I am not down on him too much, was trying for the first down. He can clearly make plays Barnett can not. And really, 2 turnovers in 100 plays isn't the end of the world.
keep in mind the baylor defense is #123 scoring defense in the nation.
i look forward to seeing art briles and baylor added to your avatar
Steele Jantz could crap out a gold brick and people on here would complain it was too heavy.
.....and should have been much, much better. Without the drops, he has an astronomical night.
The next two games will have more D than Baylor had to mess with Steele or whomever CPR throws out there. Both are fairly good offensive teams. It's time for Steele Jantz and Knott and Klein and the rest of the team to do what hasn't happened in Ames since they were playing ball at Clyde Williams Field: beat Oklahoma. We haven't beat them in Ames since 1960 according to the radio show. 1960..... Last time we beat them at all was 1990, 22 years and a few coaches ago. It's time to go for the summit of that mountain. Go State!
I said earlier today that I thought we should play Jantz against teams like Baylor that are so succeptible to the pass and we should start Barnett against teams more susceptible to the run (Texas). I still think that.
