Did Fred mess up not taking Peter Jok?

So? PJ is drawing WAY more attn and game planning against than Thomas. PJ is the 2nd option at Iowa. Thomas is what...4th? Thomas gets so many wide open set looks bc Niang, Morris and even Nader demand more attn. Nice try.

Have you watched an ISU game? Thomas does not get many open looks at all. A lot of his three's have been step backs which is impressive and people try to run him off the line all game

Probably completely off topic, and may have been mentioned, but do you realize how good Iowa St would be, had Uthoff came here?

Imagine trying to defend a lineup with Uthoff and Niang at the 4&5, and Burton at the 3. Then defensively, with Uthoff, McKay, and Burton/Nader in a zone. Damn.

If Jok had made three more of his 141 3-point attempts, he'd have the exact same percentage as Thomas. Three-point shooting is a wash.

I'm no scientist nor am I a linguist but my understanding of the phrase "wash" is that it means "equal" or "exactly the same".

We are talking overall conference strength, not individual teams.

In the last ten years, the big 12 has only made it to the final four twice, and both times it was kansas. In that same span, Ill, MSU, Mich, Wisconsin and OSU has been. A few of those teams have been multiple times.

Look, Im not saying the Big 12 isnt a good conference, at all. Im just saying excuse me for not crowning them as the best, cause its the same every year. You guys holler from the rooftops that the Big 12 is sooooo, and sooooo much better than everyone else, then you get into the tournament, and look completely pedestrian.

Also, if you dont think the NCAAs are a good barometer, your win against the SEC was pretty lack luster, who is one of, if not the worst, major college conferences. If it werent for a big night cap of games from your best teams, who knows...

Again, before you blow a gasket, I think the Big 12 fantastic, but its the same song and dance every year.

So basically you're saying just throw the regular season out, throw RPI out, throw Kenpom out, the only thing that matters is that team's other than your own team have gone to the Final Four more times?

I'd be willing to wager it's within what a statistician would consider to be the margin of error. When the difference is three made baskets, it's pretty foolish to declare one as clearly better "because the stats say so".

Three made 3's would probably be the difference in winning or losing a game. Matt Thomas plays against tougher competition and shoots better from 3. Right now it's perfectly OK to say he is the better 3 pt shooter

Reaching with Woodberry arms here.

ISU was 3 made three's away from being 21-4. I'm hoping the committee considers the margin of error when it comes to seeding

So what you're saying is ISU's 4th option is "a wash" with Iowa's 2nd option? Sounds about right.

You can have your better three pt shooter, and ill take the better overall shooter with 120 more points to his name.

Also, the Big 12 only has two teams (KSU, and West Va) in the top 50, where as the Big Ten has 4 (MSU, Purdue, Iowa-wont count them, and Maryland). He had a good night against West Va going 3-6, and tough one against KSU going 1-3. He had a great night against Iowa, scoring 19, but then again, if you count that, that would mean you would have to admit Iowa is a good team, so I dont know if that would fit your narrative ;)

Jok, on the other hand, has faced MSU, ranked #7 in 3pt D twice, and went 3-5 both times. Against Maryland, he had his tough one going 2-6. Against Purdue, twice, it was rough, as he went 0-6, and 1-4.

What does this tell us? Not much at all, except the whole "better competition" argument you are making isnt a good one. I could actually turn it around and say that Jok shoots against tougher competition, seeing as though hes shot against a top 50 3pt D 5 times, and Matt twice

KenPom has ISU's schedule #1 in terms of Opponent AdjD. The Big 12 has the best 3 pt shooting team in the country too so that probably has something to do with 3pt Defense

hard to compete for a kid who gave up an entire year eligibility to:

1) play with his butt buddies from Siouxland

2) land in IC because he also wanted to stay with his girlfriend. The guy has been whipped since he was 18

So much butthurt in this post. It'll be okay

The season is much more important than one game, at least for me as I cannot speak for you. I'll take the ISU loss and a 1-2 seed in March over an ISU win and a 4-5 seed every. single. day.

Oh is that the trade off that has to be made? Lol.

If Iowa's defense continues the way it has the last two games they aren't going to be a 1 or 2 seed in March
