We all knew it would come to this. Try to hide the case, then destroy the victim with inuendo and pure crap. In my mind, the University of Iowa is responsible for what goes on with this case. After all, they "handled" it. First she gets raped by the players, now the attorneys.

A former University of Iowa football player accused of raping a female student-athlete last fall is asking prosecutors to provide information about prescription medications the alleged victim may have taken the night of the alleged assault.

The bottom line is they had sex with an unconcious woman. I don't care if she was drugged up out of her mind on her own will that still is WRONG! I'd bet that even if she was hammered to the point she was going to pass out that the acused were probably sober enough to be able to tell she was unconcious and knew what they were doing.

So many similarities to that Jeremy Stevens case from Washington...

Stevens committed so many crimes and got away with so many because he was a football player. Man I wish I had that article about him to link, there was an article I believe in the Seattle paper (not sure though) with a laundry list of the things he did, many of which he got away with because of his athletic ability. He was one bad dude.

What do the Rx records of the alleged victim have to do with ANYTHING ?

It doesn't matter what she may or may not have drank, taken, or smoked. If she didn't specifically consent to relations with the alleged perps IT IS RAPE.

Someone please have Mandingo point out what specific drug the victim can take that makes RAPE legal...

It would be wrong even if the victim was a prostitute. This girl had to have high moral character to be a virgin in today's age. Agreed, that regardless what if any drugs were in here system it is wrong.

There is no excuse for anyone to sexually assault another person, regardless of their state or condition. However; saying that a very good attorney is 'raping' a victim and throwing out words like 'destroying' is cheap and childish. He is doing the job he was retained to do.

I'm sure you would choose your words differently if this had happened at ISU.

Let the legal system do it's job, I'm sure the victim doesn't need you to run patrol over the case!

welcome to the site mr. parrish

I agree with the last post. WHO CARES WHAT SHE TOOK... You still raped an unconscious girl... no matter what she took, that's still illegal in every part of this country, even Iowa City. This point shouldn't hold any water as their actions are not justified by her perscription drugs.

Yeah, I agree that it is ridiculous. It doesn't matter what Rx drugs she was taking, it doesn't even matter if she was licking toads while on a heroin binge. Rape is rape, no matter what substances the victim used.

I do disagree with your second sentence though. In my opinion, you can't tell anything about a persons moral character by how much sex they have or when they started having it. Other than if they cheat on significant others, obviously.

Here is one article. There are many.

Stevens' past, future collide

His first name is Jerramy.

I choose my words carefully. The attorney knows exactly what he is doing. Asking for records is one thing. Sending it out on a press release is quite another. In my view, this is what's wrong with the system. I didn't say he did anything illegal. But immoral, yes. I would make the EXACT same comments whether this happened at Iowa, Iowa State or Slippery Rock. And as for the victim, she will need all the help she can get. She sure DIDN'T GET HELP FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA.

Sounds like more sleaze will be forthcoming until 3 Nov and trials begin. Hey, the whole EIU admin swept the episode under the rug for almost a year. They hope it blows away.

Start out by trashing the victim in the media then what do you get ?

A big delay (more money for Mandingo) while they argue about moving the case because of a media poisoned jury pool- of YOUR OWN DOING.

For those that have done Jury duty, what do you most remember about the case ? The things the judge 'struck from the record'.

If the case does get moved, you have a trial AFTER Football season.

What are the odds we see a 'gag' order on this case ?

Hmmm....

What do you mean by press release? It seems he filed a motion in court and the reporter covering the story wrote about it. Isn't that what we were asking of the reporters?

Is it true that Tom Witosky's (the DMR reporter) son is an intern or works with Parrish? Has anyone confirmed that? If this is true, isn't anything the DMR reports about this attorney kind of tainted?
