Dear ISU AD: Please Stop Changing Hilton

They can do whatever they want just keep winning. It might be something they are forced to do for safety reasons? People need to be more open to change because it’s the one thing in life that will always happen.

I could create a list of changes. Sometimes I wonder if it’s incredibly obvious to the athletic department or not. They don’t exactly have the same fan experience as the laymen (or women) like us.

I don't mind the fence, but moving students further from the court lessens the home court advantage. There have been several studies at this point, the advantage comes from fans psychologically pressuring refs for favorable calls. You want them as loud and close to the action as possible.

I doubt there are many studies that show moving the student section 3 feet further away lessens home court advantage.

You are taking away from the Hilton intimidation factor and atmosphere. Hilton was built with steep seating and fans on top of the action. Now you moved the students 25 feet away from the baselines and put them behind a fence. There’s 15 feet of bare concrete between the floor and student section. Return those new bleachers and bring back the old. Jack Trice seating is far from the field, don’t do the same to Hilton. And turn the lights back up. The upper deck looks like a black, empty void on TV.

Agreed...but suggest just emailing Pollard.

I was at the game last night. Hilton was fantastic, but I agree OP, I hate the changes.

I honestly think they just wanted to replace the bleachers for the chairs as an easier way to put it away after games. They probably stuck the bleachers in, realized they don’t extend as far, and figured oh well, close enough who will notice.

As far as the lighting, I can’t stand that either. Hilton lit up used to look like Phog Allen or Cameron indoor, now it looks more like Carver or the Octagon of doom. Not a fan.

I will give you that, in t

I will give you that in the Balcony it was hot. I thought my 79 year old dad was gonna pass out for a moment.

I was row 9 balcony, left my sweatshirt on and never felt warm once. Maybe it is location dependent? Up higher for heat to rise, or just where the air currents go.
