DeAndre Kane visiting next week

I have a feeling Fred can improve his FT and 3-pt shooting (especially FT's). Also, there are other ways guards can score besides the 3 ball.

If we want him the scholly situation will work out and I honestly don't care how. Fred can handle that.

He can play right away and fill an immediate need in the guard court. We need that to up our chances of dancing next year. Even if he is a mid level Big 12 player that just might be what we need next year to get over the hump.

I too find it hard to believe that Bubu would go off scholarship. But we don't know for sure a player is being dumped either. Quite possible someone decided that he wants to play 30 minutes a game, and that's not going to happen at ISU.

I'd really like to believe that we don't force players out. Worst case scenario, I hope Fred tells them they're unlikely to get significant minutes, and it's up to them whether they want to stay or leave. If they choose to stay, I hope Fred leaves it at that, and doesn't put any further pressure thereafter.

Just to add to this speculation, anyone see Bubu's tweet about a week ago:

Just trying to get a mf scholarship -red

Let's speculate!

I don't see this one. If Fred wants him, fine. I'm very comfortable with who we have, freshmen or not.

This is where I am as well. I just don't see the need for a volume shooter at the PG spot, who can't shoot 3s or FTs and is a lockerroom cancer. If Freddy meets with him and thinks he adds value, I'll all for it, but I'm guessing the visit amounts to nothing.

Came? He's not here yet.
Based off these 3 things I know Edozie will be a Cyclone:
1. He got his Iowa State ID
2. He told me he will be playing in the Cap City League
3. He just got Twitter and one of his followers is the one and only Fred Hoiberg.

be respectful toward current players please. stuff like "I think player X is a waste of a scholly" will be deleted on sight
When a coach offers someone a scholarship they believe that they are able to contribute to the team. Look in the past and look at the kids that are on scholarship that haven't contributed to the bball team. They have just about all transferred. Naz long was a backup PG and SDW was a redshirt whom I believe just wasn't physically ready so neither of them count. The point is that I don't think that a JUCO "which is way different than a high shool player" in Endozie has the characteristics to contribute to the team. I'm sorry I won't blow smoke up everyones *** that signs to Iowa State. I don't believe he's a Big 12 caliber talent. Send me a message if he averages 5 and 6 during any season at Iowa State I'll send my formal apology. Prove me wrong Daniel.

I'm not entirely sure Kane would play a PG for Fred. I think he gives the option, but Niang can initiate a set, Bubu is serviceable, and Morris has lots of potential. The talking heads say he'd be better off the ball. I think the draw is experience - Morris/ SDW/ Thomas don't have that.

Care to explain?
There are two possible negatives with taking him. One, he has a reputation as being a handful. Remember Royce White? If Fred can handle White for 2 years he can deal with Kane. The second issue, that he's a poor volume shooter, probably has a lot to do with the role he was forced to play at Marshall. Here he'd be surrounded by shooters and this can only help a guard's ability to score and distribute efficiently.

Good. I want him here.

Not necessarily true at all.

May have been an assumption but why don't you agree?

Because they are different people with different issues. I'm not saying that Fred can't handle him or if he even needs "handled". What I'm saying is just because Fred was successful with Royce doesn't mean he will be successful with every kid with issues.

In the end I'm not worried if he comes here or not one iota. Fred will make a decision and we will all live with it. It will probably end up working out but the "he was able to handle Royce" line doesn't guarantee success with every malcontent. I use that word for illustration and not as a label for anyone in particular.
