Darius Stevens

My dad told me he would pay for Darius's college just to see him in cardinal and gold. i know he was joking but at the same time i think if it werent against the rules to do so a lot of alumni that know Barry's relevance to the ISU program would probably throw in some dough to pay for his schooling.(this is metaphorical..sort of) I honesty don't care if he would be a bench player that only sees 1 min a game only coming in when we are up 50 or down 50, of he wants to be a clone he should be one even if that means we "waste" a schollie

i think we all just need to be patient and see what happens.. we have some time to offer him.. its not like his signing day is tomarro.. and you never know maybe he doesnt want to go to iowa state? and if he does? then great i hope we give him a scholly, but if we dont have a scholly left, then nothing we can do, unless he is willing to walk on.. or he takes a scholly for school and we get a steal.. (see paul shirley)

I know we may not be recruiting him anymore but dug this up...

General boys basketball thoughts - Robb on the Job

No other region team comes close to matching the Pirates' size in the paint. Jonathan Nwannunu (6-8), Ryan Smith (6-6) anchor the low post, while Dolapo Macarthy (6-6) and Darius Stevens (6-6) are athletic and dynamic enough to play inside or outside.

Darius Stevens led Merrillville in scoring with 17 points while Jerimiah Jones and Dolapo Macarthy chipped in with 15 and 10 points respectively. Andrean's Brad Kalina scored 13 of his 17 points in the first half.

Merrillville 52, Chesterton 44 - Robb on the Job

With certain offenses (Macarthy) may have to play on the outside," East said. "And the same with Darius Stevens. He's been an inside player. We moved him outside. It's going to take a little bit of time for both of those guys to feel comfortable. Can we have all four bigs in there at one time? I doubt it."

I didn't mean to stir up a hornet's nest when I said he barely played this year. I was just saying don't go overboard on him yet. I personally think he will be a d1 basketball player, but it's too early to tell right now.

A number of posters here label him a sophomore. But, if Darius is class of 2010, he's in his junior year, is he not? Are DS and HB in the same recruiting class?

I think it might seem that way because this thread started in 2007. It took me a minute to catch that when I looked at it last night.

If some people weren't ignoring others, they might have noticed that question asked (and answered) in the post right before.

I did notice that in some of the posts about Darius, it mentioned his teammate, Dolapo McCarthy--who is being recruited by Iowa as a quarterback.
