Cyclones Bring Pocket Aces !

I'd like to make a call out to all Cyclone fans to bring their "pocket aces" to the games this year in support of the Cyclone Defense and Alvin "Ace" Bowen #15

I found a site where I was able to purchase 52 card decks of all aces and will be giving away as many as I can but if we could spread the word and get 40,000 aces to the game that would be great... ACE ! spread the word Cyclones- bring your "pocket aces"

Yeah- but it was a bright moment despite the overall team record last year. That he came backand didn't transfer is huge. He brings a high amount of energy and has worked his way to where he is at now. GO CLONES ! Tailgating at noon next Thursday !

I hope he does. But its not because we suck, its because we are awesome and hes hungry for opponent.
 
If he is leading the nation in tackling, we are in deep trouble. Your line and ends should be your leading tacklers, if your linebackers or even worse your secondary are leading, you are in trouble, because too many people are making 8-10 yard plays.

Huh. This is exactly the opposite of what I was always taught as a D-lineman. Your linebackers should lead the team in tackles (although I agree when your secondary leads you've got BIG problems). The D-lineman's job wasn't to get tackles, but to take up at least one O-lineman so he couldn't release to second level, enabling your LB's to flow downhill to the runner.
 
I don't think it is all that unusual to have a LB lead your team in tackles. It is leading your team in tackles 10 yards down field that hurt ISU.
 
Ok- there is too much being made against his accomplishment... why not embrace it for what it was. Linebackers making the tackles is much different than safeties. Why downplay it. Anyways.. don't wanna argue about the meaning of it.. good or bad...

Just think it's a good thing he's preseason All Big 12 Let's show sign of support and bring ace cards.... he is bright spot on the team

I think the bigger question is "Who was the teams second leading tackler last year?"
Was it someone from the secondary? If that's the case agian this year then we're done.

Last year in the NFL, the top 14 tacklers were linebackers. You have to go down to number 76 before you get to the first defensive lineman.

In the NCAA last year, the top 23 were linebackers. Not a single defensive lineman in the top 100.

In all seriousness it's a grass roots effort but I'd love to get people on the wave to bring their Ace cards to the games... easily stuff one in your pocket. Ace of spades is his card of choice... tattoo.. but any ace card would do. Raise em high on big tackles and plays. ACE ! Not wearing my "old" Seneca jersery it's my new ACE #15 jersey.

Found a web site and purchased decks of 52 cards all ace of spades-

I was on the field at that last game and Ace was the last one off taking pictures with fans... I have a larger ACE of spades card I made and posed with after the game with numerous fans

exactly. a LB leading isn't bad...a lot of teams LB's lead in tackling. Remember the year when our strong safety led the team in tackles a decade or so ago...now THAT was bad!

The Linebackers should lead the TEAM in tackles, but any player on a remotely DECENT defensive unit as a whole isn't going to show up anywhere in the top 10 or even 20 nationally for tackles. Means they were on the field for WAY too many plays. If any Cyclone leads the nation in tackles, We are once again in a world of hurt.

With cover 4 the Safeties should be making most of the tackles. They are up just like another linebacker and are rarely accounted for in any blocking schemes.
 
Nik Moser led the team in tackles the year Iowa State won the Independence Bowl and was one kick away from the Big 12 title game. That team had Dobbins at linebacker and played good defense. Stats can be misleading but I would hope we can all agree Alvin "Ace" Bowen is a strong point on the entire team to rally around.... Any other thoughts on bringing ace cards to the game ??
