Cyclones Bring Pocket Aces !

Good Morning Cyclone Fans !

In case you didn't see my original post- page up
I'm trying to get some crowd participation and support for the Cyclone defense and #15 Alvin "Ace" Bowen this year

Bring any ace card to the games and raise 'em high on big defensive plays as support. Taking it to another level I will be packing along some "ace cider" for the tailgates.... kewl looking ciders that also sport ace cards. Check the package out at acecider.com. Maybe over the top on this but so his "Ace's" commitment to the Cyclones. We are lucky to have him at Iowa State and returning for his Senior year. Any comments or notes of participation greatly appreciated. Forcast looks good for Thursday as well

Section 18 this year.. sporting the ACE Bowen #15 jersey and a bigger Ace card in case you catch me at the games.... ACE !

Man today's weather is really get me excited for this Thursday... just has that low humidity football feel outside today

Seriously can't wait for the opener... I truly think McCarney left us with some good talent and maybe the team quit down the stretch and the play calling was gettin second guessed thus didn't help matters much either... Brand new start and their are some key pieces still here and hopefully some surprises await with some of the newcomers...

Help Spread the Word Cyclone Fans

I was able to get on KXNO's call in show with Coach Chizik and share my enthusiasm for the season and my grass roots effort to get fan support for Alvin "Ace" Bowen and the Defense this year through "pocket aces". Bring any ace card to the games this year... easily fits in your pockets and raise 'em high on big defensive stands !

Actually it fell to the third page... I ended up with the last 5 posts or so trying to keep it to the top... gettting a lot of views just not many replies or interest... hoping to get more and more people on board though....

Don't think I've had this much anticipation since Christmas when I was a kid... LOL
Just so many unknowns but hopes for the future.

The D-lineman's job wasn't to get tackles, but to take up at least one O-lineman so he couldn't release to second level, enabling your LB's to flow downhill to the runner.

DO NOT argue with Brian!!! He got that information from Dan McCarney, and he knows more about football that we do. And as we saw over the years Dan's knowledge of the game was second to, well, many, many others in the profession (winning the OT toss, taking the ball first, then admitting to the Sporting News that you didn't understand the rule).

However, many defenses are designed to have the front 4-5, take up the blockers, therefore allowing the linebackers to make the majority of the tackles. If you aren't playing against an option team, and they get to your safeties, consistently, it's a looooong day for the defense.

Jeez what's up with the personal vendetta against me. I was wrong, plain and simple. I always though in a 4-3 it was the nose guard taking up the center gap, and the takles to try to fill the other holes and then end was responsible for creating chaos and takles. I was wrong, and I am man enough to admit it.
 
For a Linebacker- Bowen brings a lot of CHAOS !

Brian, there's no vendetta buddy. It was a delayed response from a good natured jab that you took at me in another thread.

This was an exaggerated use of a famous Dan McCarney gaffe, nothing more, nothing less.

The second paragraph was a more serious explanation of the way many defenses are designed for linebackers to make the bulk of the tackles.
 
Are all of Cyclone15's 44 posts in this thread alone?

I think Cyclone15 should dress up in one of those Ace costumes from Alice in Wonderland. Dress in the ace of hearts or diamonds so the red shows your support.

Hey Cyclone 15, ill be in tom night to get some necesitied for Thurs night. Weve talked face to face about the cards before, thats how i know who you are. We shuld get a Cyclone discount where you work, especially youre dept.!!

Good idea, you should try to pimp it some more with a few "bumps" on this thread! :wink:

Seriously though, I don't mind the idea (although I would hope that a bunch of hoopla about one player doesn't take away from the whole defense). I do hope that if it catches on you don't continually bump it and talk about it as "your project". All that said, please don't take offense to my comments (I've just opened this thread about 25 times thinking there was something new when it was your bumps) Bowen is a stud and I hope the whole 'Clone defense is lean and mean this year and the place is rockin!
