Cy-Hawk future & "The Alliance"

Been saying this for years ..the loud mouth idiot Iowa fans are the absolute worst ..even bullying kids who wear clone gear. I've seen it in northeast Iowa. What makes it unbearable now ..is that we can't beat them even in a game of checkers..our teams play with a huge mental block.. Our 6-1 volley ball team team just got destroyed by a 1-6 Iowa team. If Pollard/coaches can't turn this around..then it's time to drop the series.

Iowa arguably plays in the toughest volleyball league in the country. I doubt they’ll be finishing over .500 in that conference anytime soon

IMO very few things make me think a sports fan is softer than not wanting to play a rival because the other side has annoying fans. Cy Hawk on Twitter is full of people like this (plenty of Hawks) and I worry about their mental health. It’s a ****ing game and it brings together so many parts of the state. Ignore the idiots and enjoy it for what it is. And I will say this 10 times as loudly to any Hawk who doesn’t want to play the game, either.

Actually its in the hands of both programs...not up to "them". I would not at all be heartbroken should we drop them and play an SEC team like Missouri on a Home-Away basis...or anyone else. That said, I do look forward to the Iowa game being a conference matchup.
I wouldn't care if the Hoks dropped us like a hot potato.....

Cancel the series unless it's a 2 for 1 at JTS. If Barta would agree to that (doubtful) keep it otherwise get rid of it
I AGREE CyTwins.... I AGREE GET RID OF THE SERIES THAT HAS BEEN A LOSER SINCE SEPTEMBER 1977....btw the HOKS WON 12-10....and that was the longest drive home from a football game in my life!

Disagree Bobby, and I was at that game too (how about that Tom Buck punt return). Still haven't gotten over it and last Sat was nearly as bad.
Look how long it took to get the series back; drop it and it probably will never happen again in our lifetime.

It's huge for the state; it's always one of the most hyped up, entertaining events in the Jack. We need to start winning this series, but never, ever drop it.

Do we make money on the game? That's what's important in sports now, right? o_O

I would move it to the last game of the season. That way we have a late sellout.

I'd be in favor of a 2 years on 2 years off rotation. That way both schools can mix up their P5 non-conference schedule.

So, do you need to be reminded again what happened in 1978? When a team never gets across the 50, that's a slaughter. Even more so than the beatings we took for nearly 20 years. So, that's one win which Iowa has never, nor is ever likely, to match.

I'm tired of losing to Iowa, so I'm tempted to wish it away, but its been on GameDay the last 2 times it's been played and gets pretty good viewership numbers. This game is beneficial to both schools and the state. Why would either one want to get rid of it?

To most Iowa fans, they’re on board with the series as long as ISU remains a good/top 25 program. For years it was a lose/lose because they gained nothing by beating them. With CMC as the coach, they’ll be a top 25 team most years.

Nobody knows for sure how this alliance is going to work out with the Big 10, PAC 12, and ACC. But all indications are they are going to have each team Play a team from each of the other two conferences. That would mean there’s simply not room for Iowa to play another P5 school.

I do believe with the big 12 expanding they will likely keep that designation. However I don’t really understand the benefit of keeping that designation until perhaps the playoff expands? It really only matters as far as revenue and that is certain to go down for Iowa State either way. It’s just a matter of how much revenue they lose.

I don't know if it's true, but I think I read on a different thread that P5 teams can reimburse players for other living expenses beyond tuition, room & board.

Does anyone know if this is true or just a rumor?

I am fine with keeping it at every year, but I would definitely prefer doing this than just straight up cancelling it. Being able to play different P5 teams during our non conf would definitely be nice, but I still want to play Iowa fairly often.

I haven’t heard that but I would think that would be a designation between FBS and FCS not P5 versus G6.

If Iowa were in charge, they'd keep the series if they keep winning. If ISU rattles off wins in FB and BB you can bet Iowa will play the 'lose-lose' card and want to get out.

It's like I put out a bat signal except it's shaped like a douche bag.
