Cooke Suspended Today

Everyone runs late every once in a while

Not if you're a leader on a D-1 basketball team you don't.

One of the biggest points driven home to me in HIGH SCHOOL football was if you're not 15 minutes early, you're late. I can't imagine being late to a COLLEGE practice, let alone more than once. We're not talking about family emergencies here.

Is Cooke a leader on a D-1 basketball team?

Fred leaving bothered this team. No doubt about it. Coach has a difficult rope to walk trying to keep everyone happy. When a father figure walks out on you it will have an affect for a long time. This team needs a Big win moment go get them playing and coaching as one unit. Picture a step dad walking into a home while the teenage son doesn't want you around.

While I do agree to some extent, it sure didn't seem to affect Thomas in a negative way. Kid upped his game big time. Perhaps the thing that some of the players are bothered by is having a coach who decided the way to win is to actually play D and to be held accountable.

Probably more of a TJ thing.

Prohm hasn't exactly had stellar defensive teams. It's not like they brought in Bo Ryan or Tony Bennett.

Never said that. Just saying that CFH's approach of maximizing shot attempts is quite different from CSP's "push when it's there, get great shot selection, and focus on three stops in a row on defense."

Hoiberg was not about maximizing shot attempts either, although with the freedom and trust the players played with, at times it may have seemed that way.

Fred wanted the best shot. Just to him, sometimes the best shot was a heat check. Which it can be if you shoot with confidence. We just have been missing to many, esp Nader.

So what you're saying is that Hoiberg let "the inmates run the asylum"? Nice and now we have our strict disciplinarian coach like McDoormatt after the other time that satellite salesman let his "inmates run their asylum"!!!!! Love you guys!

Well, the net result was the net result so to speak. He spoke all the time about pushing the ball to put pressure on defenses, not necessarily ONLY when it was there for taking. In addition, "making more free throws than an opponent takes" necessitates getting lots of shots up at the expense of not giving up lots of fouls on the other side of the court. So, yes, I would say CSP's approach coukd be construed as quite different. Either that or some of our guys didn't like the loss of control on court decision making.

Nah. just saying there's enough of a difference to require an adjustment on the players.

Yes! This team simply doesn't have the sharp shooters of years past. Working the ball more and focusing on stopping opponents has taken considerable more importance.
