Colorado transfer portal

No one should be surprised at all. Deion told them to hit the road when he showed up. He signed 19 high schoolers plus 29 transfers and counting. That’s 56.5% of the scholarships filled by new players already. He is/was cleaning house

I thought is was 17 total and 8 since Saturday. Two that entered Sunday were proven WRs. In any case, I think this will go either really really good or really really bad for CU. On the outside it sounds like he is brining in a bunch of selfie centered, "me first" kids. That my be a tough dynamic to manage with a whole room of them. My son lives in Fort Collins and says CU fans are drinking the Kool Aid with a fire hose.

If Prime is successful, he will be leaving Boulder in a hurray for the SEC or NFL. I'm not saying he is cut out for that but his hubris will drive upward movement ASAP.
I think it's a safe bet to say he lasts 3 years max. Either does well and moves to a more prestigious job or flames out.

I'm not a fan of Coach Prime, but losing a bunch of players from a team that has a new coach and went 1-11 last year isn't exactly earth-shattering news.
No, but it is sort of unusual that they all went through Spring practice and just all of the sudden jumped after the Spring Game.? Maybe Dion ran them off, idk, though it's interesting that the guy that had the best game would be run off. Just weird all the way around.

Just curious how many returning starters did Colorado have and how many transferred?

An article in the Athletic says 41 players have transferred out since he arrived (including the 17 recent ones). Don't know any breakdown of starters v others.

He will have the first year as a honeymoon also.
I'm not really talking about Prime's job security. Obviously, his job will be safe no matter how poor his first season's record is. I'm talking about all the optimism and excitement that has exploded around the Colorado program.

If my prediction is correct and his first season starts with 5 consecutive losses, I'm guessing his constant hunger for attention could backfire and folks may be jumping off his bandwagon left and right.

Ourlads depth chart projects a WR, LT, OC, NT, SS & PR as returners projected to start.

He's got the backing to bring in the players he needs to win.
Problem is: will top level talent want to come to a has-been program with crappy facilities in a crappy conference whose top teams are soon leaving.

And I'm sure he can sell them on the glorious TV deal coming down the pike. One where most games will probably be streaming only.

So not only will they have the usual terrible time slots for PAC games that nobody watches, but now those games won't even be on linear networks.

Hey, good luck with all of that, Prime Time.

i kind of hope he fails so it shows the rest of college football that throwing money, cars, music and whatever else at recruits isn't the entire answer.

Huskers are doing the same thing. They were at 101 scholarships about 5 days ago. Now down to 97. Coach Rhule is meeting with every single player to discuss their future. Sorry kids, the Portal giveth, but the Portal also taketh away.

A mass exodus after a coaching change is normal but 41 guys seems like a lot, even so there are only a few that were surprises. Guys likely getting money to go elsewhere and not wait out a possible rebuild is going to be more and more normal every year. It's a combo of nil and transfer portal more than being about Deion but Deion won't shy away from the pub. He likes the narrative.
