*** COACHING SEARCH THREAD: Wednesday, June 3 ***

What a second...what's going on? Apparently JH agent has actually sent out a tweet that the story of JH not being interested in IsU job is inaccurate? Umm? SIAP?
 
Throwing out a name that I discussed with a friend last night. Mark Jackson. Is he an NBA only guy? I know he's doing analysis for ESPN... but figured he'd be a very good "brand name" and would run an NBA style game. This is just me and my friend batting around names. No source here.

Jeremy, do you think these names are ones that the fan base would be excited about if we got them. Of all the candidates, I still think Otz is the best fit; however, wondering if these secret names would be "splash" hires that also have a good chance of being successful more than just next year.

Just a guess, but I think Hornacek may be the only consensus candidate I've heard mentioned. After that, our fan base seems to be all over the damn place.

So it sounds like our search group maybe did something wrong in asking permission to talk to JH? Now Phoenix isn't allowing him to speak to us?

It seems like there's some gamesmanship at work here with Phoenix and JH trying to get an upper hand in negotiations. Either way, it doesn't seem like it's happening, but JH's side is trying to ease relations with Cyclone fans.

Yes, the names are a bit higher caliber than most you have seen. Again, they are people that feelers have been sent to and they were met with open minds, or the person has a feeler sent to ISU. It's all fluid though so it's hard to tell what is legit, what is a rumor, what is agenda-based, etc.

Yeah, I don't think we can say "people will be happy with" or not - there will always be a division.

no. The guy is a ****** and has had multiple players come out and bash him in the past year.

Excellent question! I think TJ knew the opening MIGHT exist, and FH and JP agreed that he could take over as head coach.

Now it's being reported that JP and the Prez are at odds? From what I'm hearing, TJ is not out of the equation, but is firmly entrenched as candidate #2.

Let the Prez have his input. If he and JP can find a "big-name" coach, then fine. If not, I have no problems with TJ taking over, which I think this is how it is going to play out.....

You do realize he had us at the alter, right? If people only knew how close to reality many things have been. Just like McD - very few realize that he was literally driving to KSU (was around the border area on the interstate) to sign with them when he got the call from JP.

Wasn't Brian Kelly about to be announced HC? He leaked the info and ****** off JP. Am I way off?
