Coaching Search Rumors - Consolidated Thread

I don't think it's unreasonable to come to a thread titled 'Coaching Search Rumors' & expect some actual rumors... Maybe they should rename this one 'Who would you choose' & make a different thread for rumors.

I'm starting to wonder if you guys know what rumor means.

JP and the search firm are unlikely to release any info, and the former players and donors that are common sources for CF aren't any more likely to have any more info than you or I are at this point. It's early.

I could definitely get on board with this. After looking at a pretty thorough list of assumed candidates, Campbell, Monken, and Fleck are my top 3 realistic choices.

Not really impressed with most all of the others. I'd love to see what any of the 3 could do here.

Just did a quick wilkopedia serch on Fleck, what makes him such a great candidate?

"At 34, Fleck is not just the youngest head coach in the FBS; he has changed WMU from a directional afterthought to a force on both the field and the recruiting trail. The catalyst behind this transformation? His enthusiasm. Between Fleck’s four years as a wide receiver at Northern Illinois and his two seasons playing for the 49ers, he spent a few weeks as a sixth-grade social studies teacher in DeKalb, Ill. When his kids studied ancient Rome, they wore togas: “I wanted kids to say, ‘I don’t want to be with Mrs. Johnson, I want to be with Mr. Fleck.’†He uses the same approach as a coach and recruiter. Fleck treats every team meeting like a pep rally, crowd-surfs after wins, shows daily hype videos and makes highlight tapes out of mundane things like winter workouts. “That’s what makes it so much fun,†says junior quarterback Zach Terrell. “There’s no monotony. Never.â€

The effect is notable. A few weeks after the Broncos sputtered to 1–11 in Fleck’s first season, he landed the highest-ranked recruiting class in MAC history. In 2014, WMU went 8-5, pulling off the conference’s biggest turnaround ever, and as Signing Day 2015 approached, Fleck was poised to once again haul in the MAC’s top class. It includes Scout.com four-star defensive back Justin Tranquill (Carroll High), the highest-rated prospect in school history, who picked Western over Indiana, Illinois and Purdue. Not bad for a program that’s never won a bowl game.

How the hell is he similar to CPR?

People would compare them in the sense of passion. Fleck can be a bit cheesy, but he is definitely motivational. Just search his name with some videos and you'll see what I mean. 'Row The Boat' and what not...

We definitely need another cheesy coach with a losing record so long as he is a "good guy". If he has Iowa ties and/or loves Jesus then even better. It's the Iowa State way.

Just saying that is likely where the CPR comparison comes from. I'm not saying anyone thinks that he would be a good coach because of that.

I'll try to find out if he worships Satan and report back.
