Coaches named in ISU release

It's the opinion that is already all over the internet, social media, and various news outlets that matters. And they are basically calling ISU cheaters because we committed major NCAA violations.

Oh for god's sake. Calm down and don't read the paper or listen to the news for a few days. It'll all blow over. You and a few idiot Hawk fans are the only ones that will be worried about this in a month.

Actually, it doesn't even matter anymore. In the release, it says that Iowa State made major NCAA violations. So no matter what the penalty ends up being, we'll still be considered "cheaters" now no matter what.

Just great news. Ruins basically anything we've accomplished as far as I'm concerned. So we made some crappy bowl games and got to the NCAA Tournament 2 years in a row by cheating.... what a great accomplishment! Not.

And yes, I know I'll get ripped again for posting this, but who cares. And there are those that won't believe we benefited in any way from these phone calls, and of course, there will be no way to tell if we did or didn't, but it will be assumed in the public court of opinion that we did, so it doesn't matter.

Who knows if we landed Royce White because of some of these calls? Who knows what football recruits we might have been able to get because of all these illegal calls?

I'm just getting so sick of college athletics in general, and the NCAA too.

I live in the Cedar Rapids area, and all the 3 news channels have said on this side of the state tonight, over and over again, is that Iowa State's Athletic Department committed MAJOR NCAA VIOLATIONS. Thousands of improper phone calls to recruits. That's it. That's what is out there right now. Nobody, besides us die hard ISU fans, will bother to look at this report, or at the findings by the NCAA.

Throughout the state, and the country right now, we are known as cheaters. It DOES NOT matter what happens after this point in terms of how we are portrayed. Heck, we might as well be USC, as far as our reputation goes now.

I live in the Chicago area, and none of the news channels mentioned a thing about it. The rest of the country DOES NOT CARE.

When we're in the tournament next year we'll be the media's darling again. Why? Because honestly no one will remember this or care about it except for Kansas or Iowa fans who don't have anything better to do in their miserable, pointless lives then say we cheated. As much as I hate to say it, the rest of the country doesn't care about us unless we get hosed or knock off a huge team. And the media thrives on controversy. They'll forget about it in a few weeks, and move onto a new story. There is nothing to worry about.

No doubt this is correct.

Just for the sake of an idea, what if people did care? Is there something that says that we have to care what people think?

If people are too lazy, biased, or stupid to get what this is, I don't see why I need to care what they think. Therefore, I won't bother.
 
damn. no program anywhere wants the term major violations attached to them. people dont bother digging for facts.
 
Already burned my ISU clothes and bought new threads colored black and gold cause Ferentz and company do it the right way. I have washed my hands of this whole cheating AD dept. Good bye ISU it was fun and will probably be getting kicked out of the conference to boot so good luck the rest of the way.

Clonedude you have inspired me. Well good bye everyone and hope someone craps in my cherrios tomorrow morning and every morning after that. Is the sarcasm pirate needed?

I am sure the NCAA will butt rape us cause that is just how the NCAA rolls, those **** heads!! Hate the NCAA organization. I do not think it is a big deal compared to what most schools do, plus we reported it to them instead of covering it up like most do or would have done.

This report amounts to a lot of technicalities. Rules violations? Absolutely. Part of the sometimes very complex realm of compliance that most of us would fail the exam for? Affirmative. Want to read a report of ISU athletics in MAJOR violations? Go back to the football report from the Criner era. Until I read that report, I never knew how serious it was or how close we came to seeing whole AD in smoldering ashes. Think the "death penalty" was rough on tradition-rich, championship winning, wealthy SMU? Imagine what it would have done to tradition-less, poor ISU...

Unrelated: can I get your support to petition the FCC to make political phone calls that I am barraged with every four year to be classified as "impermissible"?

It's kind of funny to watch. Other than reading the posts here I haven't put a second thought into it because it's a non-issue. Baylor, Indiana ect got slaps on the wrist for similar or worse offenses, and ISU even self-reported it.

I love seeing the tavernhoks coming out of the woodwork to jump on the phonebillgate bandwagon though. They're good at jumping on bandwagons so I'm not surprised.
 
I would be worried if we lost a bball scholarship over this. Where would our future transfers get their scholarships from?
 
Dont know if it is mentioned in this thread but its being reported by ABC5 that Keith Moore was seen at an AAU game talking with coach/players by CFH himself and was fired over the infraction.

That is what got the whole thing started.
 
I know we obviously did the right thing in self reporting, but there is no doubt in my mind this would never have been discovered by the NCAA. The fact this is being called a major violation is not only misleading but absurd considering the state of the NCAA and other schools situations right now.
