Clayton Custer Transfering

Hallice Cooke was not recruited to play point guard people. Stay patient lots of roster movement that will still occur before the end of May.

Correct. He was recruited as a combo guard, a player who can handle the ball like a point guard, but shoot the ball like a shooting guard. Don't believe me? Check his twitter bio.

He was in line to see some serious PT next season I felt like. I just don't understand how going to a smaller school is going to help him, especially since he'll be sitting out a year. After Morris leaves in 2016, he'd be in line to start. He won't be eligible to play until that same year (2016/2017). I'm confident in saying he would have been a starter his senior year.

I think you're crazy. He wouldn't have played much next year. This season when Monte went out, Naz played PG. And, Cooke has better PG skills than Naz, so you know he's getting those minutes. And down the line, Custer would have been recruited over. His ceiling at ISU was a rotation guy...backup PG, not a starter. I don't think that he was quick enough to be a starting B12 PG. Don't blame the kid for leaving, but I would be surprised if he ended up at a P5 school.

Kevin Ware played 28 minutes a game this year. Just some poop for thought for all the posters I see peeing a little bit about Cooke and Williams having offseason surgeries.

Because everyone recovers from injuries/surgeries exactly the same way.

No but
is different than tightening up your shoulders or slight tears in your hips that you played through. Williams and Cooke will be 100% by this summer.

I'm not sure if I want to call him a quitter, but I'm pretty upset right now.

That Katy Perry song Hot And Cold was written for you. Earlier you said we don't need him, now you're upset he's gone? What a ****** you are.

Unless you are psychic, you do not know what his ceiling is.

Sincerely,

Melvin

You mean Sledge?

Melvin had less question marks coming in and had a very successful freshman year. It was clear he was going to play at a high Big 12 level. He didn't have Big 12 size, but he was a Big 12 athlete.
Custer is a complete unknown except we preferred to play Naz at pg over him.

Would Melvin have played as significant minutes if he arrived 4 years into the Fred regime? I'm talking about guessing a guy's ceiling over the span of his career, and I will stand by my argument that most predicted a very average ceiling for Melvin, which obviously he surpassed by a long way. The same people seem to dismiss progress and growth from almost every player, and assume that what they are is what they will be (and in Clayton's case, from watching him for about 30 minutes of actual game time).

He would have played significant minutes in every year of the last 4.

I stand by Sledge being a better comparison. Custer is not very similar to Ejim. There was a significant doubt when Custer came in, and losing out backup pg minutes to Naz suggests that doubt was valid. His ceiling was not thought to be as high as people thought Ejim's was, and then he showed he is starting lower than Ejim as well.

Ejim production wise met or surpassed the ceiling, but many looked at him as a recruit being able to develop into a wing. That never happened.

Anything can happen, sure. I hope it does.

An even better comparison would be Naz.

Point is, nobody has a clue how he will develop over the next year.

I hope it wasn't a mistake, but is does seem likely it was. If Burton has a little pg in him, he will be a starter.

Morris, Kane, Naz, and Thomas worked. If you can get someone somewhat near a Kane (does not need to be AA level), you go for it imo.

Wyatt Lohaus is as good and would only be a year above.

The only way Burton has a little PG in him is if he ate him. Burton is a guard with a little power forward in him.

Yes he was. At least according to his father. Check out his twitter feed. He pretty much answers everything people ask and he has said multiple times that Cooke is a PG and will play PG at Iowa State.

Edit: looking back at it I guess it isn't worded so strongly. Says "he plays the point" "is a pass first player" and has "been working out with Morris". But however, Hoiberg uses him (next to Morris or backing him up) is "Hoiberg's call and they trust him 100%".

In that respect, neither was Morris.
Cooke was recruited because he can play pg, as well as play with a pg...most would say he was recruited to play pg.

I have to be reading this wrong. Neither was Morris? Players don't come more point guardy than ISU's point guard. He was brought in as the ISU point guard of the future but ended up playing next to Kane his freshman year because Fred brought in Kane after Morris had committed. If not for Kane, Morris likely would have started at the point his very first game at ISU. If I am misreading your meaning, please set me straight.
