what i was trying to ask was: what causes the big ten to lag behind other conferences like the SEC or PAC-10? There's no need to be an arsehole about it and laugh.

I'm sorry. I thought you were making excuses as to why the Big 10 was bad. That's what I found funny.

I don't know why the Big 10 sucks. I just know that they do

Is it just me or do you guys think that it is hilarious that Hawk fans have to go back to the Jason Berryman example in 2005 (tried, convicted, kicked off the team, served jail time, paid his dues, got a 2nd chance) to have any sort of argument on this matter? It is pretty well known by most fans Hawks and 'Clones alike that Iowa has more off the field problems than Iowa State.

I'll say that Berryman screwed himself, he could have been great. I agree with everyone on that. The moral of the story here is to keep you nose clean, enjoy playing in the Big12, a full ride scolarship (which most of us would love to have), and stay classy.

I have evidence that suggests the Big Ten does not suck.

Where's your evidence proving they do?

That is actually somewhat misleading.

RPI takes into account the team's winning percentage, opponents winning percentage, and the opponents opponents winning percentage. So since in EVERY conference, the teams spend most of the season playing one another, its really only taking just adding up each other's record over and over again. RPI really isnt as relevant in football as it is in college basketball. A better indicator for football would be to look at the strength of non conference schedule and the records from there. That would really solve nothing since both conferences, well most conferences besides the Mountain West, cupcake their non conference schedules to pick up extra wins. Personally, I think that bowl records are the best indicators of a conferences strength. It is the only time when you really dont get a lot of powerhouse vs cupcake matches.

Last 5 years for Bowl Games:

Big 10: 12-23 (2-7 in BCS games...both wins in same year)
Big 12: 21-17 (4-4 in BCS games)

Big 10 hasn't had a winning record in bowl season during those 5 years. Big 12 has all but one year.

This year doesn't look to be too different. I doubt the Big 12 does very good either but the only people that don't find the Big 10 a joke are fans of the Big 10

Since the BCS bowl games came out the Big 10 is 2nd lowest in winning percentage. Only conference lower....ACC

Struggle to read? I posted above my evidence that suggests they do suck. Most knowledgable football fans know the RPI doesn't really show the best conference in football. That is evidence by the Big East being ranked #1. A conference that most would have no higher than 4th.

You can argue all you want and use statistics. I will use what happens on the field when the Big 10 plays other BCS schools. They lose and they lose a lot

I wasn't aware that the past had any relevance to the presence. In fact, I don't really see how using past bowl records is any better than using present RPI statistics. But since you posted it, I guess it must be cold hard fact.

The Big Ten isn't horrible this year. Sorry. I guess we'll see after the bowl season.

So does the Big 12. So far this year it's 4-7 against teams from other BCS conferences. And from 2003-2008 the Big 12 was 51-56 against teams from other BCS conferences. Both of which are worse marks than the Big 10.

Safe to say they both have sucked.

Yeah the Big 12 has been on the same level as the Big 10:jimlad:

I agree, the Big Ten isn't horrible. It's average. Same as every conference that isn't the SEC.
