CBS Bowl Projections

The Texas Bowl (it was the Houston Bowl) was the worst of the bowls that I've attended. The city of Houston had no idea there was a game when we were there. The "charm" of a game in Shreveport is the Independence Bowl is their baby. Without it Shreveport would be just another city on the map. People thanked us everywhere we went. I'd go back in a heartbeat. The Texas Bowl is the only one I wouldn't attend.

Funny story: We stayed at the Holiday Inn (I think) right behind Reliant Stadium, and when all of the Cyclone fans started arriving and checking in, the front desk staff had no idea what was going on. :biglaugh:
But, I had a great time down there, nonethless.

Houston is VERY much a professional sports city. Outside of the weekend they played Tceh, UH doesn't fill their stadium. It was EMPTY yesterday. Doesn't help that Houston and Rice aren't exactly powerhouses.

Most of the college football fans here went to or follow Texas, A&M, or LSU. Add that a LARGE chunk of the population is hispanic (and thus follows European football) and the rest follow the Texans, Cowboys, or Saints, and there you have it.

I know how enjoyable of a football season I just had, I doubt your basketball enjoyment will compare. Good luck with that though

Well I have a good feeling it will not only compare, but be better. Think about it, although the hawks were first on news channels this year, you still had to share some time with us because we surprised some people. Everyone outside of you're fan base was begging for iowa to lose because they are sick of seeing a big 10 team get trounced in a BCS bowl. But our basketball season should be fun because we have a pretty special team and you're basketball team is going to be horrendous. That sounds pretty enjoyable to me. Good luck with that.
