I understand the need for a refresh (though I love the nostalgia of the old logo) but the new one is way too simple. The design company just ripped off the new Wendy's logo.

I remember at an old job I had, we were releasing a new product. They spent a ton of money hiring a marketing agency to come up with the name. The CEO made it clear that he wanted the name to be "Edgy" and stressed that multiple times. Several weeks and thousands of dollars later, the agency came back with their results. Their recommendation? "Call the product 'Edge'".

The CEO loved it. Well worth the money in his opinion.

I've heard directives like this too many times to count and it never ceases to amaze me. To some people, the color purple is 'edgy'. To others, it's only 'edgy' if it's offending someone. There are countless ways to define 'edgy' or 'bold', I cringe anytime I hear someone say that's what they want.

They need to request their money back from whatever marketing team recommended that logo to them. Nothing like spending thousands of dollars to change a logo everywhere only to just make it worse.
I'm sure whoever came up with that logo, if it was outside of the company, charged A LOT more than we'd think.

Wiki says they have 2,146 stores.
Say it costs $10k per store to change out street signs, the fuel island canopy, and the store façade, that's $21.5 million. I think $10k is probably on the low end of that too.

They would have gotten way more bang for their buck by reinvesting the same (at least) $21.5 million in wages for their employees. What a waste of money that new logo is.
