For some reason your story keeps giving me flashbacks to this chapter of the Chizik era.

I don't remember this at all (and that University I was referencing was not ISU). For the record I hate the I-State logo. It always reminds me of Idaho. download.png

The logo change has nothing to do with people who are familiar with the brand. They probably knew it wouldn't be popular with that crowd, but also know people are not going to change their habits over a logo. This is about having a logo that they can introduce to a new market that doesn't look old and outdated to someone who's not familiar with it.
See maybe I'm just petty but I just totally disagree with this stance. I'm still going to Casey's right now, because I still only drive enough to get gas about every three weeks and need to use fuel saver. That said If we are traveling I'm not sure I'm going to go out of my way to go to a Casey's anymore. I also disagree with the idea that this new logo helps them grow into a new market. With it they look no different than any other gas station. If I saw the new Casey's logo it would just be oh another gas station is coming in. If they kept the old logo it would be cool another gas station is moving in. They look like they've been around a while so what makes them special.

I remember at an old job I had, we were releasing a new product. They spent a ton of money hiring a marketing agency to come up with the name. The CEO made it clear that he wanted the name to be "Edgy" and stressed that multiple times. Several weeks and thousands of dollars later, the agency came back with their results. Their recommendation? "Call the product 'Edge'".

The CEO loved it. Well worth the money in his opinion.
I imagine that because it was made by "an ad agency" it got more respect and cred than if it were done by some unprofessional "in house"
