Camp battles

Kempt has put on what 15-20 lbs? He says he's worked hard this offseason to improve his arm strength. That coupled with an improved offensive line and more tailback and tight end options should put him in a great position to succeed. I think big things are ahead and only if KK gets hurt does he not start all the games.

I'm more worried about Butler and Jones catching it than Kempt throwing it. Those two need to be way more consistent.

I'm a huge fan of Sage and he had what I'd say a pretty successful NFL career as a long time backup, but I'm not sure what y'all are seeing that would jump out and say that objectively he is a better option. I know the game was a little different back then, Sage was more athletic and was more of a physical player and he was heck of a player overall, but numbers aren't that glamorous...

All of our QBs are going to miss the security that was throwing to Lazard last year, or even Ryen and Murdock on short passes they turned into big gains. Imo a QB like Kempt will be hurt more if there isn’t a similar outlet this year, but maybe Butler and the big TE develop into that.

It’s really apples and oranges trying to compare qbs from today’s era and anything prior to 2008ish. That was when everyone moved to a spread offense and completion percentages skyrocketed due to the use and overuse of the bubble screen. Passes back in sages day were pretty much all down the field. A better indicator of comparison would be completion percentages 5+ yards down the field.

I think Montgomery will be this outlet on many plays.

Butler has looked like a stud in highlights from camp. It seems like every time they post a highlight he is abusing one of the best CBs is the conference. But he doesn't have to be our only option. Unlike years before CMC, we have lots of talent and depth at our skill positions. The competition for reps is going to push these guys perform. CMC has proven over and over he will play the guys that will help us win.

We'll utilize Tight ends this year and DM I would guess.

We have a ton of young guys at WR. I hope Kyle and Scates gets some PT this year

I don't remember what video it was but someone was making a big point about Kene being a real threat this year and that he will be a difference maker. I am really intrigued to see the kind of formations we use this year. Our RB room's cup runneth over.

He was so exciting as a true freshman. If he is healthy, it is scary to think of where he is now physically in year three of the program. Last time we saw him he was still a kid, he is now likely a man. Can't wait to see him play this fall.

If you want to have a good defense you MUST have lock down corners. I like that this staff takes lots and lots of DBs.

Hearing Zach Ross is fully recovered from his ACL and is putting in some good work.

BTW everyone comparing Sage, Seneca, and Kempt. Can't do that. Seneca ran for his life while throwing passes to recievers not named Butler and Lazard. He made Whitver and Lane look like Wes Welker and Danny Amendola.
