Camp battles

I could see Scates or Shaw playing the entire season, but I think most of the freshmen will play in 4 or less games.
I know we like to hype the recruiting rankings, and the talent on film is there, but Tayvonn Kyle is the freshmen receiver getting hype from the coaches. And that kid's tape is as impressive as anyone's.

Agreed, I watched his tape the other day and he really reminded me of DeShaunte Jones. Both are very agile.

Was rosterbating a little a bit, snooping around, and noticed that Amechie Walker is listed as a CB. Maybe it's a mistake, because every other DB is listed as a "DB", but he used to be listed as a receiver.

Edit: His number has changed to 24. It seems legit.

Hearing Zach Ross is fully recovered from his ACL and is putting in some good work.

BTW everyone comparing Sage, Seneca, and Kempt. Can't do that. Seneca ran for his life while throwing passes to recievers not named Butler and Lazard. He made Whitver and Lane look like Wes Welker and Danny Amendola.

Supporting cast is a big factor, but to me, coaching is much more evident. Seneca was an incredible talent and he accomplished a lot without a scheme to highlight his talents.

If you put Seneca on last years ISU team you'd see the staff gameplan for his abilities and maximizing his potential. DMacs staff just didn't do that.

Honestly I though dmac did pretty good with Seneca. Seneca would definitely killed it on the spread offense but that was barely getting started back then.

I agree. Seneca was the mercurial talent, but we were quite overmatched at certain spots (not uncommon in the history of our football program) and you can't really scheme around certain basic deficiencies. Not saying that that staff was perfect, but it wasn't all a game plan problem.

I don't think there were enough adjustments made, especially in 2002. Once Oklahoma shut us down it seemed like the strategy was set of beating ISU.

Seemed like they just gave Seneca the ball and told him to go win the game.

Agree 100%. Not all gameplan. But I would love to see what Campbell and Co could do with a QB talent like Seneca.

I was always frustrated in Seneca's second season that he didn't run the ball more. I get that he was trying to show NFL guys that he is not just a runner and could sling it also. Which worked BTW.

I always thought some of that was the coaches wanting to keep him in the pocket more. Maybe to keep him from getting killed out there.

Purdy and Re-al both seem like great prospects. It will be great to see who comes out on top.

I'm hoping they can turn into some version of the Tebow-Chris Leake Florida Gators QB combo, just with Re-al being more of a speed rusher and hopefully more accurate qb than Tebow :)

With the most mobile QB in college FB, I was yelling for McC to roll him out on the majority of our pass plays. Didn't get it then, still don't.

Zach will be a good one. Not a lot of harder workers or guys who want it more.

Coach mentioned it in his CFTV interview that Walker is now a DB.
